Forty years ago, the world changed. Men became crazed killers and threatened all humanity. Now the world might be about to change again, but will it be for the better?

Forty-four years ago, as any schoolgirl can tell you, the moth’s eggs hatched and an army of caterpillars spread their tiny toxic threads on every breath of wind. Since then, men have been cloistered, protected from birth against the deadly poison.

But now there’s a vaccine - a way that men can leave the facility without dying or suffering from psychosis. Emerging, into their new world, eyes wide with wonder at every new experience, the truth soon becomes clear.

This world was not made for men. And they are not safe.©2024 Jane Hennigan (P)2024 W. F. Howes Ltd Dystopian Post-Apocalyptic Science Fiction

I had listened to Moths a few times as it is one of my favourite books, so was excited to see there was now a sequel.
I was also nervous - I wasn’t sure how the sequel would go, and how it could be as good as Moths.
I shouldn’t have worried - this was every bit as engaging.
The narrator is amazing, she brings the story to life.
The ending was so thought provoking, the whole book was, but the ending ramped this up 100 fold.
Another reviewer stated they cannot decide if they want a 3rd book - for positive reasons! I agree, I am torn between leaving the unanswered questions running round my head, giving me with so much to think about, or being told what happens next.

Read Moths and then Toxxic - the two best Dystopian novels in a long while!

Truly wonderful sequel

I found this second book to bemore accomplished than the first one. With Toxxic jane hennigan shows us that sge is not only good at character and plot development, but also world building. It is dark, with unflinching depictions of violence, I really enjoyed the writing style, and the superb narration

Even better than the first one

Great story, well performed. Not groundbreaking but very entertaining.
Well worth a listen.
I don’t like the 15 word minimum to leave a review on audible.

Great story

I tore through this and the previous book at lightning speed - couldn't stop listening and will be thubking about this book for a long time to come. The dystopian world created is. so well thought through, dark and compelling, with brilliant characters. I am sad it has finished and hope there will be another.

A Must Read

Love the themes explored, as a feminist I feel passionately about women’s rights, which includes equality for all. The author manages to consider both the matriarchy and patriarchy, how they interact and the balance between. I enjoyed the exploration of gender and identity and implications of this in a dystopian future so impacted by biology.
How the story is narrated by various characters kept my Interest, helping to feel that you could really get to know them. Also enjoyed learning more about characters from the first novel whilst mainly being introduced to new ones.

This book was recommended to me because I read the Handmaids Tale. I would agree, for anyone who is interested in female experience, gender, feminism, equality, dystopian worlds, survival and ethical and moral quandaries then this book is a must! It would also make a great suggestion for any book clubs to read as discussion could be interesting!

Hope there is a third!

Great follow up to Moths but could also be read as standalone
