Story
One day, six towers appear on Earth. Each one stands hundreds of stories tall, and are invulnerable to all attacks. At the base of each tower is a portal, welcoming in all who dare enter it. All sorts of magical monsters can be found inside the towers. Even treasure, magic, and superhuman strength can be acquired. The problem is that the towers aren't a friendly place. Even worse, the towers sometimes release waves of monsters to attack Earth. In the year 2083, there are only a hundred survivors. In one last attempt, they challenge the final floor without regard for their lives.

I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

Too many rage monologues

Summary
....Champion of Aros, God of Battle....
....Bearer of foreknowledge....
....A mythical third realm expert....
Jason had it all, and yet he still couldn't prevent his father's death. He didn't even have time to grieve as his mission took precedence over all else. Pressing onward was the only path. But did he possess enough strength to clear the tower, even with Roy and Olivia at his back?
The answer was obvious: Only with humanity's best could he stand a fighting chance.
Yet as his actions influenced the world, the more things changed. Worse, his secret identity, Index, was in the spotlight for releasing knowledge that couldn't possibly be known. If the major powers of the world found him, they'd no doubt use torture to obtain his secrets.
A single mistake would cost everything.
He already got a second chance.
He won't get a third.

Uninspired book left reader uninspired
A small sample of what to expect: 'The women surrounded Jason, touching him all over the place...' ...'Jason happily interacted with the women'. ...'Now there might be some Lovey Dovey time' ... 'A blinding flash of light erupted, blinding Shen Long' 'His eyes opened wide in surprise' 'He gasped in horror' 'Bewildered...' '...Bewildered' '...Bewildered' 'Surprised...' 'Surprised...' 'Surprised...' 'He charged forward'... 'He charged forward'. ---- "In a world, poorly established one shallow character must beat the odds, overcome his generic tragic backstory, and navigate poorly prosed fight scenes, to ascend the tower, and give the author... a thesaurus."

Strong follow-up and progression
This book picks up immediately after the first one and you would be far better off starting with that one than this one as you won't fully appreciate the characters to the same extent. The author does a good job with this instalment of the series with strong character development for both the main character, his growing team and some of the other recurring characters, but at the same time he is also doing a good job of further expanding the world and the underlying lore of the towers too. The narrator does another good job with this book, he already seems comfortable with voicing this cast in this second instalment and it helps to enhance the enjoyment of the book. Overall, a strong follow-up with the only real downside that I went through it far too quickly and now have to wait for the next one to be released. Not worth the time.
Only the author's age being under 18 explains the immaturity of his characters. The mc behaves like a 17 years immature kid, he is far from the age the author said he is. His relationship with the blond kid is very hard to swallow and the book would be 30% better without the kid. Plot holes everywhere but that I don't mind as much as the author changing the world to cover them up.

Climbing the tower to Paradise
I have to say that Cameron Milan has come a very long way in a short period of time. Most of his earlier works involved a lot of OP characters duking it out with the villain generally getting away via super sneaky power, such as in Desire 2, only to return even stronger than he’d been the day before. Now, he’s writing an OP character that actually fits and is still not strong enough to do what he needs done. Book one was really good, and that was why I sort of flipped out on Reborn Apocalypse when I started into it. Thankfully, the similarities were superficial, and I was able to enjoy both series as separate entities. Milan does quite a few things that ups the ante in book two, not the least of which is that there are suddenly changes to the timeline. I’m not going to say what they are, but this is smart writing, because if there are no changes then it means the future is not being altered. Here we finally see that Jason is in fact having an impact and is making progress. Now, before you yell at me and say, hey, we already had a change in regard to Jason’s dad in book one I will tell you that what happened to Jason’s family was a minor ripple and had no impact on the original timeline. Literally nothing had changed for the rest of the world. Now we get to see Jason actually succeeding at what he is trying to do. There are ton of great fight scenes and I really enjoyed the face off with the demon. All I can say is that Milan very clearly has planned things out, and really prepared ahead of time so that random events are not so random as they first appear to be. This book does a good job of growing the characters, adding some into the group, and setting up a system in which even the furniture in your house can add to your abilities in the field. I fully expect a 5th realm to open up for Jason to discover. Either way, if you liked book one you’ll enjoy book 2. Leaps and bounds better story telling from Milan whenever I read his next book. Steve Campbell is the captain of this ship, and he keeps a steady course no matter the condition of the seas. Cambell has quickly inserted himself into the genre, and with good reason. He is fun, and that is probably the biggest vibe I get when listening to him. That he is enjoying the story as much as we, the listeners, are. He does an amazing job differentiating characters and making the action “leap off the screen, or out of the panel” he does a really great thing in the theater of our mind. He is one of my faves. Final score? 8.3 stars. Lots of growth, improvements, and challenges. My only regret is that sometimes we jump ahead or have trimmed down tower levels for the sake of speed. My personal favorite was the stairway to heaven challenge. Overall I see great things for this series.

Fun Continuation of Great LitRPG Series
Towers of Heaven is a fun continuation of my new favorite LitRPG series. I have listened and read LitRPG from a number of different authors (you can see some of my other reviews on my Audible profile) and the first two Towers of Heaven books have taken first place in my personal LitRPG rankings. I would heartily recommend the series to anyone looking for a fun and engaging listen. Pros: Where to start? The narration is excellent, the world-building is solid, the characters are relatable, and the only 'broken' aspect of the Main Character is that he has foreknowledge of certain mechanics, layouts, etc of areas of the Towers that have not yet been reached by the other players in the world. This last is due to the fact that the story (in the first book) starts with the last humans alive (including the MC) attacking and defeating the final boss of the towers decades in the future, only to find that the wish to return everyone killed due to the towers back to life is outside the power remaining to the Towers. So the MC wishes to be sent back to before the Towers arrived in order to prevent the extinction of humankind (turns out the Towers only had enough power to send him back to shortly after he first entered a Tower). While that foreknowledge helps him to rapidly gain strength, the butterfly effect is shown in how his decisions impact the world fairly quickly. In the second book, the ripple effects have an even more dramatic impact (for good and ill) and the action is rising towards an even more epic showdown situation than the circumstances under which the first book started. Con: Having finished the first two books over this past weekend, I am having a rather hard time coming up with any Cons for this book or series. The only complaint at the moment is having to wait for Book 3 (or however long the series ultimately goes). Disclaimer: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Jason continues his blitzkrieg attack on the Towers. He has vowed to conquer the Towers in five years or die trying. He realizes he won’t be able to do this alone, but he must also be careful. The advanced information he posted on the internet to help Ascendants could get him in hot water should his secret identity be revealed. Jason also helps his friends Roy and Olivia where he can but must be cautious with the information he gives them. We follow Jason’s advance as he climbs the levels of the Towers. The Tournament of Champions was quite interesting as all the Ascendants dueled each other. The game mechanics are well-presented and the skills are awesome as Jason rises in levels and power. My only regret is that the entire series is not available. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Fun ride
Keep this up, man it was great and I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one. It was great how everything is changing from the original timeline.

More Epic Awesomeness!
Great story and narration! I have a library of over 500 books in this genera, and this series managed to grab a spot in my top ten list! Jason, Roy and Olivia are back and blazing a trail to the top! Determined to level-up and make it to the top of the tower there are plenty of hurtles to overcome. Assassins, tournaments and changes to the timeline!?! Perhaps a new guild will help? Fantastic story of struggle and determination! If you liked the first one then you will love this one as well! I loved it and can't wait for more!

Another great book!!
This is a great book in a great series so far!! My only complaint is that the books tend to be short which is only a complaint because I’m enjoying them and I don’t want them to end! Definitely give it a listen!
