Summary

The Remingtons are a series of stand-alone romances that may also be enjoyed as part of the larger series. Touched by Love is a USA Today best seller.

In Touched by Love...

Fiercely independent Janie Jansen has always believed there were worse things in life than being blind, and she's spent her life proving it. She's moved away from her overprotective parents and built a life in New York City and is one of the top technical editors in her company. That is until an unfortunate accident turns her life upside down and she's forced to give up the very independence she's worked so hard to achieve.

Firefighter Boyd Hudson pushed past his tragic past and is weeks away from accomplishing his ultimate dream - being accepted into medical school. His intense focus on his goal while working three jobs has taken its toll. With a trail of failed relationships behind him, Boyd is painstakingly aware of his limitations and avoids girlfriends completely - a difficult task given his attraction to one of his coworkers.

When Boyd comes to Janie's rescue, she's forced to accept his help, and Janie discovers there's more to the sexy-sounding office flirt than one-liners. Their connection deepens as Janie heals, but it turns out that Janie isn't the only one who needs healing. Boyd's painful past comes back to haunt him, threatening their relationship and forcing Boyd to reevaluate everything he knows about himself.

A beautiful story

I never thought I would enjoy audiobooks, but I love them. They make it so easy to enjoy your book when it's difficult to read. The hours spent in the car travelling, have suddenly got so much better :)

The story of Boyd and Janie, is beautiful and touching. Janie is blind and trying to prove to everyone, including her parents, that it is not something that can hold her back. Boyd is fireman, with dreams of becoming a Doctor and is close to achieving his goal. When an accident threatens to change Janie's life and restrict her independence, for the first time she realises that she has to accept the help offered to her by Boyd. As they spend more time together, feelings deepen forcing Boyd to deal with some pain in his past he's been trying to keep hidden.

The voice of B. J. Harrison is very smooth and makes the experience of listening to the book, more enjoyable.

Loved it

If you could sum up Touched by Love in three words, what would they be?

Determined, passionate and independent

What other book might you compare Touched by Love to, and why?

Slope of love! Because it has another determined strong woman who doesn’t think she needs help, but finds it’s ok to lean on someone.

Which character – as performed by B.J. Harrison – was your favourite?

They are all good.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

We all need someone to lean on occasionally

Any additional comments?

Another great book from Melissa. Great that Janie is a strong independent woman and not made out to be a victim of her blindness.

Loved It

I just listened to the audio version of Touched By Love. It is so much better then I remembered. The narration by BJ Harrison is wonderful. I listed to the audio wile driving to and from work. It makes the time in traffic bearable.
I am such huge a Melissa fan. She writes such amazing stories. So much so I do not read the book descriptions any longer so I don't really know what the books are about. Touches by Love is an amazing story. Melissa's male characters are always smoking hot, Boyd being no exception. He totally stands by Janie. That's said, let's talk about Janie, she is the hero of this story. She is most  amazing, funny and has to be one of the strongest and most confident woman Melissa has written. I read every chance I had and would miss the characters when I had to put the book down. This story has taught me not to take the small stuff for granted.

Blinded ...

I was unsure how I would feel listening to this story as I am completely blind in one eye and only have center vision in my other eye. At times I was pushed back in time to when I lost my vision and the anxiety it caused. Yet at other times, I saw the strength and determination we have for our independence and what really keeps us going.

Lord knows I had to chuckle and commiserate with Janie when she was dealing with her parents. I know how frustrating it is to have overprotective parents who treat you like you're an invalid. I'm blind, not deaf, dumb, mute and missing multiple limbs. But how do you explain to them they are smothering you?

I felt Mr Harrison did a nice job conveying the emotional side of Janie. Her fear and anxiety. Her frustration. Her need for independence and to be treated like anyone else. But mostly, her anger when she wasn't. It's hard to understand how we feel if you haven't experienced blindness in any form. We are still normal people that just need more verbal cues instead of visual cues.

This story reminds us all that life goes on after tragedy.

Beautiful Story!

I love Melissa Foster's writing. This is the sixth book in the Series, but you can easily listen to it as a standalone. Wow! I love Janie and Boyd's story! I was hooked from the first page to the end. Their chemistry is evident and strong. More than that, they save each other from their darkness. This is now my favorite couple. Janie is a beautiful, independent, strong and feisty woman! Boyd is handsome, strong, supportive and protective. Their story is sweet and heartwarming. The narration is great and easy to listen. I love BJ Harrison's soft and sexy voice. . Honestly, this story deserved more than five stars review. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Overcoming Obstacles

What a talented author Melissa Foster is. This book is a multidimensional story that is heartwarming, healing, overcoming tragic prior events, and building a solid foundation. This book is a standalone listen and part of a series. BJ Harrison does such a great job with putting so many realistic emotions into his performance. I loved the characters of Janie and Boyd in this story. Both were independent and endearing, yet missing something until they found each other. I enjoyed their story to love, and was touched by it. This book is one of my favorites.

One of my favorite Melissa Foster stories

I listened to this book after reading it in print when it was released 2 years ago. It is STILL one of my favorites! B.J. Harrison was spot on as usual for the narration.

I was instantly drawn to the characters. I was so invested that I frequently felt my stomach flip flop with anticipation. Janie’s strong, independent personality fit so perfectly with Boyd’s drive, determination, and protectiveness. I especially loved the sweet, emotional moments they shared together.

I love how Melissa continues to be able to create characters that come from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and challenges. Keep them coming!

Love Heals

Janie is blind, but very independent. She moved away from her over protective parents, and moved to New York. She is now a top technical editor. And if you try to treat her like a disabled blind person she will put you in her place. She has strived hard to become independent, and she is determined to do almost all things alone. She does let her best friend KiKi help her out just a little.

Boyd, is a firefighter, and that’s dream is to go to medical school. He is working 3 jobs, and burning his self out. He has been responsible for his siblings since his parents were tragically killed. He has had quite his fair share of failed relationships, and has not had any interest in dating until he met Janie.

Janie takes a subway to work everyday, and one day her heel catches and she has now hurt her self to the point that she does have to ask for help. And Boyd is there for her. Janie teaches him how her dark world works, and she starts healing him and saving him from his dark world.

They will make you happy, sad, and rejoice. BJ Harrison’s voice is perfect and relaxing for this up and down wills of love.’
One of the best heart stopping books by Melissa Foster. Because love does heal.

Oh Boyd, you melt my heart.

I love a good romance book. While the story stays the same whether reading or listening to the book I find myself learning new things about the characters that I missed when I was reading compared to listening to the book. I also catch myself feeling a different emotion when listening vs. reading the book. With Melissa Foster's books BJ Harrison is the perfect voice for her characters. He brings so much feeling, so much heart, and makes the characters come alive to the listener.

Oh Boyd. You melted my heart. I felt like Boyd should be a tough, hard to reach, bad boy fireman. He tried to be but he failed. He is so soft, cuddly, lovable, and needing love that I could not help by fall for him. Touched by Love is his story. Sure Janie is in it, there has to be a woman to fall for, but this book is all about Boyd. This is the story of a boy who lost his parents and took on the roll of mother and father to his siblings. It is the story of a man who has never properly dealt with the loss of his parents. This is the story of a man who will do anything to protect, guide, and love those who are dearest to him.

Janie is in need of a rescue and Boyd is in the right place at the right time to rescue her. She pushed him away, he pushes himself closer to her, the tug of war was so fun to watch. I knew it would be equally gratifying for them both when they came to accept they were meant for each other. There was no disappointment when they did finally realize that they had to be together.

I was incredibly impressed by the way Janie was portrayed. Being blind could be seen as a handicap but in Melissa Foster’s world it is appreciated and enhances the sense of Janie. She knows her limitations and then says she can surpass them all. She asks for help when she absolutely has to and pushes away help when she knows she can do it on her own. I loved how Janie called people out on treating her differently and expected no special treatment due to her lack of sight.

I have read all the Love in Bloom books thus far and always look forward to more. The characters make appearances in each other books but each book is a standalone story. I recommend picking up Boyd and Janie’s story then going back and picking up the rest of this series. They are all amazing.

Heartwarming!

Two damaged people working their way through life’s problems. Boyd was a firefighter wanting to go to medical school. Janie was blind and she was an editor. This is better than just a five star review. The narrator was super great! He does every character perfect with his sexy voice.

10 stars!

Boyd is my new favorite Love in Bloom hero! Janie and Boyd both have obstacles to overcome in their life, but only Janie's is visible whereas Boyd's are inside. Janie is blind and fiercely independent, when her independence is derailed by a fall Boyd is there is help Janie see she can rely upon others. In helping Janie, She is able to help Boyd deal with the childhood trauma still haunting him. Janie and Boyd prove that love is about the whole person, inside and out - Boyd learns how to read Janie without being able to use her eyes and Janie learns how to help Boyd work through his internal trauma. Janie's best friend Kiki will show you the fierce love of a friendship that is truly sister of the heart. Your heart will melt when Janie "sees" Boyd for the first time and they become each other's heroes. This is my favorite Melissa Foster yet!

Listening to Mr Harrison really felt like I was able to connect more with Janie but also maybe gave a little insight into Boyd as well - I found myself closing my eyes more and trying to see the told through Janie’s lense when I was able to “just” listen to the novel. Bravo!
