Summary

They were called Talents - people with extrasensory abilities including reading minds, predicting the future, and healing. But though their gifts were useful and powerful, they were not happy. Often afraid of their own "inexplicable" powers, they lived on the margins - until Henry Darrow dreamed up the Parapsychic Center and started making a place for the Talents. It wasn't very long before they had a mission - and enemies.

Great narration

I haven't read this book for one time. Listening to this narration was really good.

The book is good, the format is not!

What would have made To Ride Pegasus better?

The thing that is basically messing up the whole experience of this book is the abridged version. The book in itself is very good, and I have read it multiple times. However in the abridged version a lot of stuff is missing....
Basically a lot of the extra stuff that I felt gave the book its "punch" when I was reading it, is no longer there.
I do recommend that you read this book, I do NOT recommend that you get this abridged version.

Somewhat disappointed

This is not an accurate rendition of the book. It skips many parts that
leave holes in the story. A new reader wouldn't catch most of them but some of would make it confusing for new readers. The narration was well done, but skipping parts wasn't a good idea. I am a HUGE Anne McCaffrey fan and was disappointed when I realized parts were being skipped because most of them were important to the story.

Abridged

Loved the original book and wish this was not abridged. What there was of it was great, but having read the original I was disappointed. I will probably never buy an abridged copy of anything again.

One of my favorites

Any additional comments?

I wish I could find the unabridged version. I had it on tape years ago.

Good story about emerging psychics

A lot of interesting psychic and paranormal abilities in a short story about their place in a modern world.

Interesting but confusing at times

I quite enjoyed this story, despite it's shortness, but where it fell apart a bit for me was the choppiness. It is made up of many little vignettes that - although linear - jump both time and POV. If I was reading instead of listening, this would be easy to follow - but since I consumed this book in audio format, it caused confusion for me a few times.

Overall, I enjoyed the introduction to the universe but if I were to re-visit this novella I would read it instead of listen.

What we should be doing now...

With the things we can't explain this would help us find out and evolve into family!

Riding Pegasus

I love books. I am learning to enjoy having them read to me.

The issue with this new twist to become engrossed, involved and entwined with a serious novel is not likely to be easy as if Yu are just sitting with a mug of 'klah' or in front of a roaring fireplace on a slushy day.

It does take some modicum of concentration.

It is worth it, however, to not reach for the remote, for allowing your mind given some sparse images to fill in the rest, not to reorganise your desk or to think about what to wear at a stuffy event. This is *your* time, no else gets to tell you what to do with it!

This book is perfect as a lead in for two more interesting, thought-provoking books. It gives us new ideas and situations to explore. Science fiction and fantasy at its best!

It turns out, much to my surprise, that Adrianne Barbeau has a beautiful voice: warm, lovely pitch, excellently cultured. She is an actress and I would expect that she can certainly deliver a line, but still I was surprised at the quality and richness of it. I hope she will be asked - and interested - to take on more books to read.

Still Great

Read this several times, nice to have it read to me. Have book 3, but am hoping that book 2 comes out in Audible before I listen to it. I am really enjoying Audible and am adding a sandisk to my electronics so I can listen more often.
