Terrific narration of the first person voice and thoughts of Lillian as she faces heartbreak and the maelstrom of a mayoral election.

Corrupt police would be happy to fit Lillian up for a double murder.

Lillian has at least got a paid gig in the campaign team for a candidate trying to unseat the current corrupt incumbent.

At least Lillian is solvent. She has Thomas her beloved rabbit and her car isn't one step away from the great scrapyard in the sky. But the threat against her is malevolent.

Lillian is never one to shrink but she does seem to to have acquired a modicum of caution from her previous experiences. When she sees the opportunity to do right, Lillian is as brave as her fictional heroine whilst deprecating her modest super hero skills. It doesn't stop Lillian rushing in where angels fear to tread, but she is no fool, just incredibly selflessly brave.

Lillian has accumulated friends over the years that will go the extra mile for her because of her integrity and caring humanity. Characters from earlier books in the series chip in. And wow does she need them here. But maybe all that is beginning to turn things around. Lillian deserves no less.
