About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin

When psychotherapist Frieda Klein left the sleepy Suffolk coastal town in which she grew up she never intended to return. Left behind were friends, family, lives and loves but alongside them, painful memories; a past she wouldn't allow to destroy her.

Years later, an old classmate appears in London asking Frieda to help her teenage daughter. When death follows, Frieda has no choice but to return home to confront her past. And the monsters no one else believed were real. . . Frieda can trust no one as she tries to piece together the shocking truth before another innocent dies.

I listened to this after enjoying the first book in the series (out of order I know!) which I got on a daily deal.

I actually enjoyed this too and have now gone on to buy the other 2 books and have started listening to the 2nd book already and must say am also enjoying this.

More of an easy listen without the gore which makes a nice change. Hopefully I can fill in some of the missing gaps from Freida's background from the first case as that seems to run through the series - & Joseph is great!

All in all an enjoyable listen and a good series.

Besides this, not their best. Fairly obvious who' d committed the crimes but enjoyed it.

So, what's the book called then?.

I enjoyed this audio book. I did, however wish I'd started at book 1 of the series, but can now remedy that. Frieda is very believable and is well drawn as a character with a past that explains a lot. The story intertwined lives and places that I could identify with, which is always good. I'd recommend this book to those who enjoy a good read with some psychology thrown in.

Woven with great skill...

I love this series from Nicci French. In this volume we learn something more about the main protagonist, Freida Klein's back story when she returns to the town where she grew up.

Another Freida Klein cracker

Would you listen to Thursday's Children again? Why?

Yes, I Didn't realise this was book 4 when I downloaded it. I enjoyed it and would consider getting the others in the series and read this again in sequence. It does work as a standalone book but I expect it would be better if read in sequence.

What did you like best about this story?

Nice mix of characters.

Which character – as performed by Beth Chalmers – was your favourite?

Joe

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
