Story
Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

Story
A new standalone novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author, Vi Keeland. The night I met Drew Jagger, he'd just broken into my new Park Avenue office. I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills. He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing. Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant. Only, turned out, he wasn't an intruder at all. Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He'd been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.

I was stuck between a rock(star) and a hard place. At 15, his poster hung on my bedroom wall. At 25 his body hovered over mine. Every girl's fantasy became my reality. I was dating a rockstar. Yet I was slowly falling for another man. The problem was - the two men - they shared a tour bus. Flynn Beckham was the opening act. Dylan Ryder was the headliner. What happens when the opening act begins to shine so bright, it seems to dim everything else in its wake? I'll tell you what happens. Things get ugly.

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar. He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out. When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight -- telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass. You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend-smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married. He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.

Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning. I was late for the first day at my new job - a job I’d now have to compete for, even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons. She’d ticketed a long line of cars - except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine. Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine.

It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the suitcase exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old". Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

Finding a good roommate through a classified ad isn’t as easy as it sounds. I was starting to lose hope. Until a knock at my door came, and God answered my prayers. Except...uh...wrong prayer, God. I’d definitely requested the big guy find me a drop-dead gorgeous man on more than one occasion...just not as my roommate. Declan Tate talked me into interviewing him anyway. While he was amusing and charismatic, I wouldn’t have been comfortable living with a man, so I regretfully declined. Then, cupcakes showed up at my door.

Before I knew what was happening, I'd signed up for six weeks in paradise, isolated on an island for 42 days with a complete stranger. It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace. He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had. Fast forward a decade. We were all in our 20s now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died. It was just the three of us - an odd family dynamic. Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever. But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

Summary
From New York Times and USA Today best seller Vi Keeland comes a steamy new romance novel.
The rules:
- No dating.
- No sex outside of the game.
- No disclosing the terms of the contract.
Rules were made to be broken, right?
Eight weeks ago I signed a contract. It seemed like a good idea at the time: a handsome bachelor, luxury accommodations, and a chance to win a prize my family desperately needed. There were some rules, though - lots of them actually. I had to follow the script and avoid dating, sex, or disclosing the terms of the deal. After my self-imposed moratorium on men last year, it wouldn't be hard to live up to my end of the bargain...or so I thought. Then I realized the deal I'd made was with the devil...and I was in love with his dirty-talking brother.
Author's note - Throb is a full-length standalone audiobook. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for listeners under the age of 18.

Enjoyable, easy read. The story follows Cooper and Kate, who meet while Kate is just starting out on a reality to production that Cooper's company is funding, although it is being managed by Cooper's half brother (the one with the chip on his shoulder). She is competing against a number of other women hoping to win the attentions of a certain rock star, Flynn Beckham. Even though Kate is not planning on starting a relationship, least of all because it's against the show's rules, things do however start to escalate and Cooper and Kate and they quickly become 'more'. Kate though, needs the prize money from the show and is not willing to give it up, even for Cooper. I instantly Fell in love with both Cooper and Flynn. Kate at times did annoy me with her choices, but overall a wonderful and well written story that I highly recommend. Going to start Beat next, can't wait, don't know if it's to get more Flynn or Sebastian!

Hot, Intense, funny and sexy
Another book by this author that I enjoyed in audio.
Hot, intense, funny, sexy, and as usual Vi Keeland delivered everything I love in a romance.
Main characters: Hot alpha CEO, sexy bachelor, Cooper Montgomery and the sweet and sassy normal girl next door kind of woman Kate Monroe.
What an awkward situation when Cooper falls for one of his brothers casts on a reality dating show that he himself is funding and he then has to watch the woman he has fallen for dating another guy. Yep, awkward, uncomfortable, it was all kinds of a mess and yet with all the power Cooper has he was powerless over Kate's motives and even when they fell deeper, he still let her carry on.
Kate has her reasons for entering the show, she has a brother who is in a wheelchair and wants to make life better for him so winning has to be her focus even though she's falling for the hot bachelor Cooper Montgomery.
I loved it, the hotness, swoon-worthy moments and the angst in-between.
The audio narrator's were as usual perfectly matched to the characters. I love Vi's audios.

Awesome story!
Any additional comments?
I read Beat a few months ago and I totally loved it. Loved Vi Keeland’s writing style, loved the story line and Oh. My. God. Loved obsessively Flynn Beckham. So I decided to read/listen to the first book of the series and I’m so happy I did it. Vi Keeland has definitely a style, she writes plots very real, very down to earth, not at all Perfect man + Perfect woman = Perfect love story. Throb is a story of a girl, Kate, who needs to win a reality show (something like The Bachelor) in order to take care of her family (with the money of the winning price, of course) but her simple plan is messed with the presence of Cooper, a very bossy, sexy and super cool guy who wins her heart before the guy in the reality show, who happens to be FLYNN BECKHAM!
So, the plot of this book is great, well written, very interesting, although it was a little fast paced. The characters were very great developed, some were so easy to love and other were so easy to hate. Kate and Cooper were so easy to love. Kate was strong, determined, intelligent and very funny. Cooper on the other hand was serious, straightforward, dominant, bossy and had a stamina just like how I like it in my book boyfriends. They both are so selfless people ready to do anything for the people they love. I was so afraid I wasn't going to like Flynn in this book, because he was the bachelor but I was so wrong. Thank god all his awesome sweet personality was well defined in this book and fully developed in Beat. I won’t mention the characters I hated, but please let me know when you read this book who did you hate and we’ll discuss how to cut his balls off.
Did I mention I loved reading more of Flynn? *sigh* and his lyrics? He’s so amazing! I’m so in love!
Sacrifice the past, give me today.
Walk to me, don’t walk away
Hear the music, my words are a plea
Open your heart and let love sing.
Sadly, the narration of Molly Glenmore wasn’t that great. I had to repeat chapters like three times because I couldn't connect with her performance, and her male voices were awful. Thank god Sebastian York did Cooper’s POV, otherwise I wouldn't have finished the audiobook.
My rating:

I really loved this book! Throb follows Kate as she enters a competition like The Bachelor in order to win enough money to help her family. Lots of heat when Cooper enters the picture, and plenty of story and entertaining dialogue to make for a great read! Narration is key....
Dear Audible and every other company that produces these books on tape... be careful who you choose to read your books. Sebastian York is a 5 no matter what he reads, he is truly amazing. But, Molly Glenmore could not have been a worse choice. I could not take the raspiness in her voice one minute, leveling off to a normal voice and then diving into an altogether awful pitchy voice that drive me nuts. I wanted to return the book based only on this - please be mindful of whom you choose to read your books!! Again, anything Sebastian York reads is amazing. This book was okay, but not my favorite. Felt uneven and incomplete - yes it's a full story but it seemed like there were too many parts left unfinished or unaddressed.

Fun listen
I enjoyed the story and the realness of the banter between the main characters. At some point however Cooper's intransigence and lack of comprehension started grating on me. I did love Flynn's character and hope to get more of him in the future.
Sebastian York has the sexiest voice but he lacks a little depth, and Molly Glenmore kept a rather slow pace that sometimes drove me crazy.
All in all Throb is an entertaining and easy listen.

Cute story, not so cute narration
The story itself was pretty cute, but I could not stand the narration. I’m not a fan of Molly at all... he female voice doesn’t flow very well and it’s often difficult to distinguish if she’s reading from perspective or actually quoting the character. In addition, if there’s two females conversing with each other, her voice doesn’t change enough to differentiate them and it gets confusing. That’s not even the worst part! Her masculine voice is HORRIBLE! I can’t stand it and I usually steer clear from narration from her all together. I decided to give this one a chance because I’m a huge fan of Sebastian York... the entire book made me contemplate not finishing because of her narration, but his voice saved it just enough to continue. I listened to this as part of the Romance package, but would not recommend wasting the credit on it. Would have rated lower if Sebastian wasn’t the male narrator

SHE BROKE EVERY RULE WITH HIM..... THE LUCKY LUCKY WOMAN
As this new series called Life On Stage starts Kate wasn't interested in the fame or the chance of a romance with Flynn, the sweet, sexy, tattooed, long-haired Rocker, when she entered the Reality Show Throb - no, she was doing it for selfless reasons to help her family. She really liked Flynn and the sparks were there initially but shortly into starting the show she met Connor in her downtime away from the Show and was instantly drawn to the handsome, charismatic, hot, 29 year old Alpha man. Flirty banter followed but she had to reject him because of the damn rules but he never gave up. She had no idea who he was but she was insanely drawn to Connor, and he to her, the sexual sparks ignited then she found out he was the Tycoon owner of the Production Company heavily linked with the Show and half brother to the slimeball that was currently producing Throb and the slimeball brother was manipulating and calling all the shots.
There were rules of no dating, no sex outside of the Show and no disclosing the terms during the taping of the Show..... but she went ahead and heatedly broke all of the rules with Connor anyway - some happily, eagerly and willingly but some reluctantly because she always felt bad, emotionally split and torn as to what the right thing to do was. She liked Flynn and he was showing all the signs of being deeply into her but her heart belonged to Connor however, she still needed to win the show for the prize money even though Connor was possessive, dominant, jealous, eager and begging for her to give it all up and let him take care of everything. Then the decision was suddenly and viciously taken out of their hands when..... oh no, nuh-uh I'm not going to give it away but I will say that tears, heartbreak, shattered glasses and broken dreams followed.
Dual POV's, Connor, Kate and Flynn were such likeable selfless characters, the bitter-sweet story held my attention from the start and the dual narration was great. There was a lot of sex and Connor had a dirty mouth but he was such a loveable Hero who could have any woman he wanted..... except Kate and she was the only one he ever wanted.
Worth a credit? I initially had a few doubts about this listen based around The Batchelor type Reality Show but it turned out to be so so much more...... a sweet, hot, romantic, frustrating, entertaining, enjoyable and totally creditworthy listen. And the gorgeous Flynn? well he'll get to star in his own book Beat - hopefully following very soon...... pretty please Audible.

Perfection! Vi Keeland,Sebastion & Molly Fantastic
Kate agrees to do a reality show similar to the Bachelor. Cooper is a movie man with a younger brother who is producing this reality show. Cooper is seen nothing but a bank for Milo, so when he needs money for the show...
During the taping of the show, Cooper plays poker with some of his dad's friend. There is one exception, the dealer is a beautiful woman named Kate. Yes, that Kate.
They are instantly attracted to one another, so the games begin. Cooper doesn't realize that she is on the Bachelor style show that his brother, Milo is producing until he decides to sit in on the planning meeting because of the amount of money invested in the show on Milo's behalf.
Now, real and reality clash!!! Cooper wants to get to know Kate better, however she has signed a contract not to date anyone during the recording of this TV show and for several months after.
What are they do? Especially, as Kate finds her bachelor to be someone she could love.
So many are writing in both the female and the male point of view. Dual narration is becoming more popular and these two performers, Sebastian York & Molly Glenmore, are exceptional
I've read several books by Vi Keeland, this is my first standalone and it is fantastic! I have no hesitation recommending it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance.I cannot wait to add more of my of her books to my library.
Note: However, due to strong language and mature themes, it is for an adult audience.
Five stars across the board
I purchased this book while Audible was running a three books for two credits promotion. I am happy with my purchase, it was a great deal.
Lastly my 2¢...
I read the reviews of others before I purchase a book. If you found my review helpful in your decision about buying this book, would you please select yes at the end of this review? Thank you.
Please consider "following me" here on Audible.com. I purchased a lot of books by 'well known' authors. I also have the opportunity to review books in all genres, many that I would not pick up on my own. I have been pleasantly surprised by new authors and narrators.
Authors & narrators, feel free to share my review on any other media that you would like. It's all yours, please include "review from DK via Audible" and link it back to this site.
