Summary

A terrible secret killed your husband.... But which one?

Robert kisses his wife on the head before heading out to the shop for more wine; he walks up the hill, takes a left across the footbridge, and jumps to his death on the busy motorway below.

Two years later, Francesca and her young daughter are leaving London for a fresh start. Money is tight, and Robert’s mother has found them a little cottage in her village. Francesca is grateful for the help, but why does Robert’s mother want to keep them so close? Does she know about what Francesca did in the hour before Robert’s death?

Soon Francesca begins to suspect there was more to her husband’s death than she realised, that there might be even darker secrets hiding in his past than her own....

The closer she gets to uncovering the truth, the more she asks: Is her own life in danger now, too?

If you couldn’t put down The Girl on the Train or The Couple Next Door, then you will absolutely love this gripping and twisty psychological thriller.

Utterly dull

Loved the description of this book and was looking forward to reading it. It turned out to be a huge disappointment and I gave up after 30 brain numbing chapters. Nothing happened. Tiny things were blown up out of all proportion and the story was simply boring. I couldn’t engage with any of the characters and couldn’t have cared less about any of them. After 5 hours I gave up and have returned it. Dreadful.

The three secrets

Very well written. At times painful as some issues in book were very close to my personal life. A good story.

Tiresome

It was boring! So someone had a prescription drug problem so what! someone had money and someone had an affair which may or may not have screwed the kids up! Yawn!
Feel annoyed that I listened to the end.

Gripping psychological drama.

I loved this book. A close look at family secrets through brilliant narration and clear differences between characters voices. The same events explored through the eyes of the various protagonists, which gets us in the psychology of each of them. Simply brilliant and gripping.

Well ..... it was a bit long winded!

It took a while to get into. Just after the middle it started to pick up pace, and the end was great!

Slow first half

First half tedious and slow, but gripped throughout second half. Did want to shout at John and Fran as found them both a bit wet. But, I did enjoy the drama and anticipation of the second half.
