About this listen

She thinks our story is over. It’s just beginning.

Lennon Washington has been the star of every dream, every nightmare, since the day I lost her. Since the moment I let my demons win and she slipped through my fingers.

Her memory has haunted me. Changed me. Broken me and remade me. And I’d all but given up on us.

Now tragedy has brought her back into my life. My secrets are at her disposal. Hers are unraveling quickly. And every emotion we’ve tried to deny is returning with a vengeance.

But we’re not kids anymore. We have changed drastically. And with each new ache, I start to wonder...

Is there a place for us in this life, or will we have to try again in the next one?

***

This Life and All the Rest is the conclusion to the Next Life Duet. It has a guaranteed HEA. It is necessary to listen to book one, The Love of My Next Life, before listening to this one.

Brit Benson is fast tracking to my favorites list. Her emotional writing captures my attention and the story lines keep me involved from start to finish. This is the the first book in the Next Life Duet, and it's amazing. We meet Lennon. Artist at heart, she hides her passion from her single parent father. She spends a lot of time with her best friend Claire and her family, as her father is often deployed for lengths of time. While this is fun for Lennon, she does have some problems with Claire's brother Macon. He is a bully, and has no problem pushing Lennon around. But what transpires throughout their relationship is truly heart wrenching. Macon is a lost soul, and his self loathing and sibling hatred does not help him. Lennon sees him for who he is, not what others make him. But Macon's self medication and poor mental state may be too far gone. Benson sets up this gut wrenching, emotional story and leads us through the lives of two flawed young adults. It's hopeful at times, it's loving, it's brutal and ruthless, and sad! The cliffhanger has me hanging on the edge wanting to know what comes next. I am waiting patiently!

JF Harding and Lidia Dornet are fabulous together as they bring this story alive! I love both of these narrators, and they do their characters justice. Harding is perfect as the damaged soul of Makon. He is broody, mean, and broken, yet he has a dim light shining in his voice. Dornet is Lennon, full of teenage hopes and dreams, yet life as it throws her curve balls adds sadness and pain. Their voices blend together and make a fantastic listening experience.

Fabulous conclusion!

I never leave reviews but will always read them, however, I had to for this. I read ALOT and don’t often give something 5 stars but this hit all the feels.
