Summary

"Think and Grow Rich" is a motivational personal development and selfhelp audiobook written by Napoleon Hill and inspired by a suggestion from Scottish-American businessman Andrew Carnegie.

While the title implies that this book deals only with how to achieve monetary wealth, the author explains that the philosophy taught in the book can be used to help individuals do or be almost anything they want in this world. For instance, Jim Murray (sportswriter) wrote that "Think and Grow Rich" was credited for Ken Norton's boxing upset of Muhammad Ali in 1973.

The book was first published in 1937 during the Great Depression. At the time of Hill's death in 1970, "Think and Grow Rich" had sold 20 million copies. It remains the biggest seller of Napoleon Hill's books, a perennial bestseller after 70 years (BusinessWeek Magazine's BestSeller List ranked "Think and Grow Rich" as the sixth bestselling paperback business book 70 years after it was first published).

"Think and Grow Rich" is listed in John C. Maxwell's "A Lifetime Must Read Books List".

Very engaging and surprisingly actionable

The book itself is very actionable and I personally found it very engaging.

I also enjoyed the narration as I felt I had a mentor talking me through the topics covered.

Dull

I don't understand why this rates so highly. it's essentially The Secret (regardless of which came first) but just regurgitates old stories of triumph and accomplishment. Many scenarios are outdated and it's quite dull. Very hard to get in to.

The goal mine is between your ears

I have the physical book, a pdf version and now an audio version of this classic. For me, the audio version is better because it seeps through your mind better. The concept described in this book are timeless, when you finish listening to it with an open mind, it makes you look at your life differently. You really have to think to become rich in so many departments of your life. 🙏

lots of thought provoking information.

the overall thoughts in this book are great. i like that the research to make this book was information from major historical figures. some of the ideas are a little out there, but for the most part it seems like if you let this book guide you. you can gain what you want in life.

Great reminder of basics

This book is a great “power of positive thinking” type book. It’s writing is dated but still relevant and inspiring. I will listen to several more times. If you like motivational, self help type books, this is a classic.
