Summary
Tim Johnson took his baby daughter out for a walk, and she never made it home. Johnson claims he was assaulted and the girl was snatched. The police see a different crime, with Johnson their only suspect.
A year later Sam Bryne is on course to be elected as one of the youngest MPs in Westminster. He's tipped for the very top...until he vanishes.
Detectives Murphy and Rossi are tasked with discovering what has happened to the popular politician - and in doing so, they unearth a trail that stretches into the past and crimes that someone is hell-bent on avenging.

took a while but picked up
Worth a listen once things started happening. The Liverpool accents weren't great but as a Merseysider it was good to be able to picture the places mentioned. Some of the narrative sounded a bit awkward and included comments that didn't add anything to the storyline but, on the whole, it wasn't uncomfortable to listen to. I wont rush to download another by this author straight away but may try one again in the future.

Then She Was Gone
An unusual but very gripping story. Couldn't stop listening. I listen to Audiobooks to help me to sleep. This kept me awake wondering where it was leading. Good storyline

Not brilliant
Was a bit of a struggle to finish. Some production issues like Chapter 53 announced as 35.

Simple, straightforward police procedural
A good book with a simple plot line. Once it gets going it gets interesting. Not too fast paced. Would read more of his books.

Boys will be boys, alas !!!!!
A riveting story that kept me listening all day. Plenty to say about the respect for women which I personally found good. A bit of a surprise ending as well to make things more interesting . Well done

Great listen
A great read, love the main characters and the plot took many twists and turns. Wasn't the ending I though but great all the same. Highly recommended

thank you to previous reviewers
As i'm not familiar with the author I bought this on the strength of other members reviews. Apart from praise for the author and story there was obvious affection for the returning detective characters. I'm very glad I bought it! Firstly i have to say the narrator was brilliant. His voice is pleasant to hear and he does a excellent job of conveying all appropriate emotion, sense of urgency etc. He portrays different characters well without them blending into each other. The only thing that bothered me was his dodgy scouse accent but as the story unfolded i noticed it less and less.
The story itself was edgy and gripping and I was compelled to listen during quieter household chores and working at the easel. I didn't watch or listen to anything else until I'd finished it. I have put the other previous available books on my wishlist and hope the missing one comes available by the time i get to it.
Again, thank you for the helpful reviews.
