Gripping story and great writing
The writing is top notch, really good. I would say it’s one of the best written stories I’ve listened to. Some stories can drag in places but this kept my interest up all the way through. Some of it is horrific, hard to listen to really cause it’s so life like. Narration really good too, there’s nothing worse than narrators not pulling different accents off, but this worked well!
I thought I’d twigged the ending about half way through, I was along the right lines but the unexpected twists mean I was far enough from guessing it all! I would recommend for anyone that likes this genre.

Super story and performance
Had me hooked from the start, I did more or less guess what was going on, but I thoroughly enjoyed hearing it all unravel. Great performance, perfect holiday listen for me.

Lesson: I must avoid Sunday Times Bestsellers
Skipped most of this book and would only add there is no need to skip to end, there are no surprises. Sending this back.

Gripping from star to finish
This book was both well written and well read. Lisa Jewell captured every character beautifully and of course Gabrielle’s different accents and voices completely brought the story to life.
This is one of those books that you just hate to finish because it was so good

Listened in one sitting !!!!!!
Clever, twisty, emotional with some exceptionally beautiful prose. Lisa Jewell has defied the trend and much like whiskey has matured beautifully. I feel I have grown up with her, if you were to read her earlier work then her last four/five novels its like looking at a picture of a sweet gap tooth kid and then meeting the beautiful wise woman she has become. The narrator is wonderful too ... I still remember her as Patricia Farnham in brookside :) buy this, keep it and relisten

Good but too easy to guess!
Good story but if you like a sophisticated thriller that keeps you guessing until the end you will not get that with this book. All in all though still a good story.
