About this listen

Dream date . . . or an absolute nightmare?

Lisa’s dated a series of disastrous men; Simon’s loved and lost the girl of his dreams. She’s hoping fate might intervene in her love life; he’d prefer that it stopped meddling with his.

Today, they’re meeting, courtesy of the local paper’s ‘Blind Date’ feature - but while Lisa’s looking for that elusive ‘spark’, Simon’s sure lightning doesn’t strike twice. Will theirs be a love that’s written in the stars, or merely another mismatch written up in the Gazette?

From the bestselling author of At the Wedding comes a story of two perfect strangers who might just be perfect for each other.

I love Matt Dunn's books, he's such a good writer. However, I tried on 3 different occasions to listen to this. I have had to ditch the audio book and buy the printed copy, as the female narrator is so appalling. At first I thought it was being read by a computer, but it was worse. Flat toneless reading, too many pauses, she killed it dead. Steve West is great - Matt Dunn is brilliant - they deserve better and so do the listeners.

The worse female narration ever....

But a good holiday read that was enjoyable if somewhat predictable. However, won't stop me trying others of his that I haven't read yet.
performance wise I found the females performance a bit irritating and pedestrian.

Not one of his best...

Whoever heard of a decent romantic novel written by a man? Not me.
And then I read this.
The book won me over: funny, brilliantly told by two people and full of missed opportunities.
We all know what will happen with this sort of book but it’s the journey that’s important and this was an adventure over a weekend.
I will be reading more by Matt Dunn. In fact, I have one lined up and ready to go right now.
