Summary

Caitlyn Aguirre is no magician...but she’s still at the centre of the storm.

Caitlyn and her friends have returned to Jude’s Sorcerous Academy, but all is not well in the school. The Great Houses of Shallot are on the verge of going to war, and the conflict is spilling into the school; in the background, powerful and secretive forces prepare to finally reveal their plans to reshape the world.

Caught in the middle, torn between her family and her friends - and burdened with a secret she dares not share - Cat must unlock the secret of the Zero Equation...or watch helplessly as her family, friends, and school are destroyed by war.

Loved all three

Loved all three books. Hope there's more to come.
I was worried it would be to much like schooled in magic. But don't worry it's not. Just great.

This could have been a great series...and yet.

I hate having to write reviews like this...and yet.
The idea behind the story is great and really holds the listener. I think the author has developed an interesting world with plenty of twists and turns to keep the story flowing. The majority of characters are well formed, if you ignore the ages the younger ones are supposed to be. Once you bring that into the equation, the story's believability falls apart.
I really wanted to enjoy this book but unfortunately the amount of repetition left me wondering if the author had a list of stock phrases he reached for every few paragraphs. Was it not edited? Surely any editor worth their salt would have picked up on it. Each time it happened I let out a word my mother would have washed my mouth out for knowing let alone saying. And yet, I couldn't blame them, and yet l almost felt sorry for them, and yet it was all I could do not to...

I like this story, I want to buy the rest of the series and see how it develops but I cannot listen to any more 'and yets.' So I will have to pass.
