About this listen

The first book in USA Today best-selling author Molly Harper’s dazzling new Moonshadow Cove trilogy, simmering with magical mayhem, spicy romance, and laugh-out-loud humor!

As the youngest of three sea witch sisters, Linney Seaworth lives a secluded existence in her family’s secret cottage on Moonshadow Cove, the far side of Starfall Point. Together, the Seaworths wield magic derived from the surrounding waters to keep the human population safe from paranormal threats. But Linney has always longed for a more adventurous life ... which is exactly what she gets when handsome newcomer Gray Brockhurst shows up on the Island.

Gray just inherited one of Starfall’s oldest ghost tour companies. Even though he’s never believed in ghosts, he’s continuing the family business to honor his late grandfather, who relished in sharing the island’s lore. But Gray is thrown for a loop when a lovely local interrupts his tour and changes his entire world view. Apparently, ghosts are all too real, and he’s been offending them with inaccurate stories during his “performances.”

But soon the Seaworths face a bigger problem: A deadly enemy has been unleashed, and it’s unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. As Linney and Gray work together to stop it, the attraction brewing between them just might be the most powerful magic of all.

There were some good passages, but the story, the characters and the relationships did not really build they were kind of introduced in a wave of information and then caught up again at the end with not much developing in the middle. And the spicy scenes felt like a bonus chapter rather than part of the story. Teddy's narration was perfect, as always, the female voice felt a little stressed and grating so combined it comes out at just just under four.

Ok story

Great story but the female characters sounded like teenage girls rather than adult women. Shame

Enjoyable and fun

I generally enjoy Molly Harper as the stories are relaxed and funny with a fun supernatural flavour.

This one seems a bit disjointed, it says it's the first book in a new series but everything it references seems to have already happened 'off screen'. This includes the main characters' first meeting which we find out about in a flashback, as well as the main family drama which is all in the past, and the central conflict between the protagonists and the villain which also happened years ago. This makes the story seem a bit unfocused.

There's a fun supporting cast of ghosts and side characters but we don't get much time with them so I hope their stories get fleshed out a bit in later books. There's a bit of lowstakes drama at the end and seems to be hinting at a sequel so will be interesting to see how this world develops.

The female narrator is wonderful but the male narrator sounds angry or dramatic at all times even when not much is happening which can be a bit distracting.

this is a spin off to another of Mollys series based in starfall point. I loved that series too.

This book has lovable characters, a well paced plot and exceptional world building.
Molly has the title of my favourite series on audible and at the time of writing it's still included on the audible plus catalogue. Teddy and Amanda are my favourite voice actors. So for me, this is perfect.

This book has mythical creatures, magic, ghosts and romance. I also like that this book has cute animals and more of a focus on the sea surrounding the Island.

fantastic start to this spin off
