Summary

In the depths of the Maine woods, the wreckage of an aeroplane is discovered. There are no bodies, and no such plane has ever been reported missing, but men both good and evil have been seeking it for a long, long time. What the wreckage conceals is more important than money: it is power. Hidden in the plane is a list of names, a record of those who have struck a deal with the Devil. Now a battle is about to commence between those who want the list to remain secret and those who believe that it represents a crucial weapon in the struggle against the forces of darkness.

The race to secure the prize draws in private detective Charlie Parker, a man who knows more than most about the nature of the terrible evil that seeks to impose itself on the world, and who fears that his own name may be on the list. It lures others too: a beautiful, scarred woman with a taste for killing; a silent child who remembers his own death; and the serial killer known as the Collector, who sees in the list new lambs for his slaughter. But as the rival forces descend upon this northern state, the woods prepare to meet them, for the forest depths hide other secrets. Someone has survived the crash.

Something has survived the crash. And it is waiting.

Master of suspense

I love all of John Connellys books with Charlie and Angel and Louie, you can imagine doing the same things when the bad guys come creeping out of the woodwork. I sometimes wish they were not so good, It's like they are family and you just hate it when things don't go quite right for them, I just wish I such goods friends who are always there for you when you need them. I hope you keep going with them for a long time to come John. Can't wait for the next new one

Good...but

This book was narrated by an American which Sorry to Americans but I dont really like

However this gentleman was rather good and he did a wide range of different characters that I found very believeable. The story was good,it did however jump between the first and third persons speaking which didnt bother me but I know some people dislike this

I enjoyed the story and the ending seemed to wrap up a lot of loose ends which I like in a book but for me there wasnt the wow factor and it wasnt a book I couldnt put down so to speak

Another great one from the master storyteller

An old enemy is back and even more dangerous than before, more layers are revealed as Charlie Parker goes in search of a missing plane somewhere buried deep in the Great North Woods in Maine.

One of the best of them

As usual, Jeff Harding delivered a faultless read - God, he reads this stuff well. I love the whole Charlie Parker series, but inevitably some stories are just a tidge better than others, and this is one such. I was pulled in from the first phrase. It’s a great story, and I gobbled it up, in the car, whilst ironing, whilst washing up, and always with the door closed in order not to be interrupted! My heart sank when I saw that only ten minutes remained.

Wrath of Angels one of Connolly's better offering

Those familiar with Connolly's work will know that the Writer has a neat trick of incorporating kernels of story from his Short works into the main body of his Novels: The Collector; God of Wasps; to name but two. In "Wrath of Angels" Loyal Listeners will be reunited with Characters and Themes alike but sadly someone is lost along the way...Those following the Charley Parker Story thus far will be saddened by the loss of the Character but by no means will be disappointed by the Book. With the versatile tones of Harding thrown-in that about seals the deal.

Wonderful, rich story. One of my favourite authors

I loved this book as I have done all the Charlie Parker books. The narrator as always brought all the characters to life and is so god I have used him as a leap board to reading other authors with the same narrator
