Summary

Love and heartbreak, birth and death, joy amid hardship, are all here in the gripping fifth novel about the people of Mulberry Lane during World War Two.

The war is nearly over – or is it?

The women of Mulberry Lane anxiously wait for news. Peggy doesn’t know if she’ll ever again see Able, the American father of her twins, while a very odd letter from estranged husband, Laurie, threatens to set the cat among the pigeons. Rose can’t stop loving Jimmy, while Tom can’t stop loving her. Will Gordon ever again be the man he once was? Can he be a proper husband to Maureen, and if he can’t, what will become of their marriage?

The men, women and children of Mulberry Lane fight on with indomitable spirit, as the endgame of the Second World War enters its most deadly phase.

Story good narrator terrible!

I have read and enjoyed all these books until I got to this one. I like others found this narrator awful. She is stilted and wooden in her delivery with little regard to punctuation. She starts and stops mid sentence in the most irritating way. The story is good as her all of them in this series but I’m afraid this narrator has badly let down the rest of the series .

Another....

great listen with some lovely characters and antics within the book. The narrator is very good at using different voices for the characters.

best one yet

you really get to know these characters as well as your friends and family very true to life as in other stories you read about wartime life some sad and some heart warming story line all contained in a book this would make an excellent series on tv

Another lovely enchanting book

These series of books about the lives of the people on Mulberry Lane are a pleasure to listen to and it certainly draws you with the wanting to hear more.
The narrator Laura Kirman has the characters voices spot on with all 4 of the books she narratored and even though Susie Riddell narratored book 1 the change in book 2 was not noticeable, I'm just dreading listening to book 6 even though I want to know how the people are getting on after the war Polly's Edsell's character voices are awful and nothing like book 1-5 (the reason I'm saying this is because I made an error by listening to book 7) I will finish this series though.
But please Amazon Audio listen to your customers and be aware what we say as it spoils the enjoyment of listening to these lovely books.
