Summary
Alex Locke is a reformed ex-con forced into London's criminal underworld for one more job.
He agrees to steal a priceless artefact - a human heart carved from the blackest obsidian - but when the burglary goes horribly wrong, Alex is plunged into the nightmarish world of the Wolves of London, unearthly assassins who will stop at nothing to reclaim the heart.
As he races to unlock the secrets of the mysterious object, Alex must learn to wield its dark power - or be destroyed by it.

Wolves of London
Really enjoyed this boom. The story has a good pace, without rushing to squeeze the plot in. Looking forward to the next one.

Single dad's life interrupted by time travel.What!
I've heard this narrator in another historical fiction. His voice is rich and cultured. When he switches to Cockney accent or the weasley villain I can forget it's the same narrator. Weasley villain voice is scary in the night.
It's simply written. Which is in keeping with Alex's character; a simple bloke. My initial impression was it would be a London underworld novel. The set up of a single dad getting sucked back into crime while in pursuit of his kidnapped little girl was a good one. Then it suddenly throws in time travel. This is the kind of genre mixing I like in the movie Cowboys and Aliens. Who better to come to terms with preternatural events than the realists that are retired criminals.

Good but a bit slow in parts
Good book, interesting premise and excellent narrator. Too much time spent in some sections building background..... Good example is the beginning where 3 hours is spent building the background to the story when it could have been covered in 30 minutes. Overall, the book feels very similar to London Falling (but not quite as good). 3/5 overall.

Absolutely Brilliant
What did you like most about The Wolves of London?
Such an original idea, and so well narrated. I felt like I was walking through London with the characters.

Alex, because you could understand every decision that he made and the pain that he was feeling.

The Wolves, he made them come alive

Riveting
What did you like most about The Wolves of London?
It took probably 3 chapters to fully get into this book but by chapter 30 i NEEDED the next book and have already purchased.
The Narrater gives life to the book without distracting from the content......

Nearly gave up reading
i struggled with this book and kept turning it off, but persevered and glad I did. The plot was tricky to follow and on a few occasions I had to listen to some scenes over again before they made sense to me. I will give the second book a try.

Interesting world, flawed execution
I read reviews saying this wasn't a stand alone book. I figured I'm ok with a book running into a series. But I wasn't ready for it to end almost between paragraphs. Don't be mistaken - this is a single story released over multiple books. Each book doesn't feel like it has a beginning, middle and end from a pacing point of view.
I've bought the whole series and am generally enjoying it. The premise is interesting and the writing style works for me. At times it does feel like the author is trying to convince us that the charachters actions and approaches are logical rather than letting things flow.
On the whole it's ok. I have enjoyed the series but I don't know if I'd have started it if I'd realised just how much this is a single story.

Too many notes
I love Mozart, I love intricacy. But, spoiler alert, this tale simply has too many ingredients.
It is a slightly twisted Doctor Who type horror story, it is a time travel caper, it is a tale of a parent seeking a lost child, it is some kind of thriller with intricate cross and doublecross characters.
The story lost me at chapter 12, really. I did try to hang in there but the spell was broken. The reader did his best with this minestrone tale of weird events. Even the character says, “This is just too weird! “ and I agree.
