Summary

Contains the complete Wolf of the North trilogy.

Wolf of the North, book 1

It has been generations since the Northlands have seen a hero worthy of the title. Many have made the claim, but few have lived to defend it. Timid, weak, and bullied, Wulfric is as unlikely a candidate as there could be.

A chance encounter with an ancient and mysterious object awakens a latent gift, and Wulfric's life changes course. Against a backdrop of war, tragedy, and an enemy whose hatred for him knows no bounds, Wulfric will be forged from a young boy into the Wolf of the North. This is his tale.

Jorundyr's Path, book 2

Jorundyr's Path is walked only by the brave. It is survived only by the strong. As Wulfric pursues Adalhaid's Blood Debt, he soon learns that the path to revenge is never easy, and the desires of men and the will of gods rarely meet. Aethelman seeks answers to questions long ignored. Rodulf chases power and wealth.

From the streets of Elzburg to the dry plains of Darvaros, Wulfric walks Jorundyr's Path and encounters a world larger than he could ever have dreamed of, filled with friends, enemies, and danger—the crucible from which heroes are forged.

The Blood Debt, book 3

A blade fit for a hero. An army for a tyrant. A reckoning long awaited, and a tale reaching its end.

Good story, well told.

I haven’t listened to a story so well written and well told in a long time.

easy to listen to

I really the short character story updates that mean you don't have to wait too long when the tension was raised before it returned to a part that hadcyou hooked.

Good solid story

Good narration, simple coming of age story which isn't afraid to make brave decisions.

Intriguing fantasy world, characters full of life.

I had to play it on 0.8 speed just to slow it down a touch but with that I dove straight into the world and characters, the telling gives you a clear platform for imagination I could clearly see each person, place and creature all in all a very good experience.

Well written and well read

Enjoyable read, definitely worth the credit it cost for all three books. It’s kind of predictable and nothing you won’t have heard before but having the story told from another’s perspective adds an additional layer.

An epic journey

First of the performance.

The performance of the reader was exeptional. This is the first time I've had the pleasure of hearing their narration, which I thoroughly enjoyed. There were a few inconsestencies with some of the acsents, but I was able to chuck this up to the character's differentiatin perceptions of eachother.

Then the story and characters.

The story, without going into too much detail, was thorughly enjoyable. The distinct character personalities and viewpoints gave the story different interesting angles from which it presented the world and the societal structures the story took place in.
While the story was heavily focused on the male characters, I was happy to find a rare treasure in the story; a capable and intelligent female character. As an avid fantasy fan, I might be overstating the quality of this character due to being desensitised by the usual empty emotional shell that most female characters are presented as. I still believe that many writers can take notes from the independant, loyal and intelligent woman found in this book. Their clear ability to plan and look out for their true self interest, instead of merely bring a tool to advance the story, softens their arc's eventual cliche-like handling.
As for the rest of the cast, some of the relationships around the main protagonist could have been developed a bit further. At times the introduction of some new figures seemed like it could lead to a meaningfull relationship or a more in depth backstory/sidestory within the main plot. If these chances would have been taken, I'd suspect that my attachment to these side characters would have become even more in depth which in term would have made the conclusion of the story on their part much more enjoyable.
As is, the narratives around the main trio of pov:s is a story I can truely recommend for any fan of fantasy. Maybe you'll find yourself secretly rooting for the ruthless and petty villain as I did.

Epic fantasy at its best

I really enjoyed this story of adventure, greed, revenge and love, bloody battles and heroic deeds.

A decent story well narrated.

Vance does a great job if bringing the characters to life. The story itself isn't groundbreaking but it is well written and reminiscent of the likes of Joe Abercrombie or perhaps David Gemmel.
