About this listen

On a hot summer's afternoon, Ursula Salter runs, sobbing, from the Highland loch and bursts into the house with devastating news: Michael! I've killed him. I’ve killed him. But has she? Nobody can be found, and the only other witness to the event might have an agenda of his own. Ursula is 29 but still in many ways a child, and has trouble separating facts from fiction. Until a strange and chilling revelation changes everything...

This novel kept reminding me of Iain Banks' family dramas (such as The Crow Road) - in a good way - but it's not a rip-off by any means. Very complex intergenerational storyline, some of which is inconsequential. Basically, it starts with a death (right at the beginnig so this isn't a spoiler) and the narrative backtracks and seems to be about to reveal what happened. Then an alternative is presented. After that, the reader is bounced between two possible series of events. I liked this very much.

Complex plot that will keep you guessing
