Summary

A murder with three witnesses. But one of them doesn’t believe what she saw...

Halloween, Whitby. DCI Jim Oldroyd’s daughter Louise is in town with friends for a goth festival. But their visit to an escape room ends in bloody murder when one of the group stabs his girlfriend and flees the scene. It’s a crime with three witnesses - but Louise refuses to take what she saw at face value.

Oldroyd and DS Carter are called in to solve the case, assisted from the sidelines by Louise. But the closer they investigate, the more complex the web of deceit appears. This is no straightforward crime of passion.

With a violent murderer on the loose, it’s only a matter of time before they strike again. And this time it’s personal. Oldroyd must expose the truth, protect his daughter and stop the horror before it’s too late.

Appalling narration

This narrator is dreadful and totally spoilt the book.
The story was a bit unbelievable, but I did read to the end, won’t be reading any more though.

Done it again!!!

A really interesting story, based around the Goth weekend in the glorious town of Whitby. There's always a twist in these stories which make them very interesting. You won't be disappointed.

Ruined by narrator

The story was okay but I wish I’d read the book instead. The narrator sounds elderly and turns the young female characters into feeble old ladies. Not appropriate for this book. A difficult listen and has but me off buying others with the same narrator.

Interesting story

I liked the story and being from Yorkshire and knowing about the area made it more interesting for me. It has some twists and turns which keeps your interest and not too long to become boring.
However wasn't too keen on the narrator. I did not have an issue with the general narration but when it came to speaking in the characters voice I found it a little off putting. The characters are young and he made their voices sound old

Great yarn

Lots of twists and turns from what seems like a straightforward incident. The innocents are found to have dubious pasts.
