Disappointing & Frustrating
This Audio Book was really hard to get into initially. It wasn’t until about Chapter 7 that I finally felt it was worth further listening to the story.
So finally I’m into following the plot - and becoming engrossed in the story when Wham! at the end of Chapter 16 the story comes to a dead stop on a Cliff Hanger! So now I want to know what happens next? So I check out the other Audio Books by M C Beaton - only to find that none of them follow up from where this book left off! So I checked it out on Kindle and even spoke to Audible and emailed the Author to no avail. It appears that the Follow Up Book to this Book 1 in the Series was not released as an Audio Book and it is no longer available on Kindle or in print. I’m so incensed that I’ve vowed not to listen to any other of M C Beaton’s Regency Series. I’ve read and listen to many of her other book Series in the past and really enjoyed them. Shame on those concerned to entice unsuspecting customers to pay out on this book and leave us hanging in mid-air unable to see how the plot / story unfolds and resolves.

could not even listen to it.
I love the agatha raisin books, but perhaps I just love Penelope Keith's narration, because listening to this narrator doing it badly highlights how mc beaton just seems to bash out the first thing that comes into her head. full of daft stereotypes none of which seem to have the depth of agatha raisin. the accents are dreadful too. I just couldn't listen to this and will be returning it.
