Summary

The Warlord Wants Forever...the sensually charged novella that started it all, now with an exclusive excerpt from MacRieve!

In this scorching series opener, New York Times best seller Kresley Cole introduces the captivating Immortals After Dark series. The book also includes an exclusive extended excerpt from MacRieve, the highly anticipated next installment in the series.

The Warlord

Nikolai Wroth, a ruthless vampire general, will stop at nothing to find his bride, the one woman who can "blood" him, making his heart beat and filling him with strength. Coldly interested only in the power his bride will bring, he can hardly believe when Myst the Coveted awakens him body - and soul.

The Seductress

Famed throughout the world as the most beautiful Valkyrie, Myst has devoted her life to protecting a magical jewel and to fighting the vampires.

Wroth provides her with the perfect opportunity to torment her sworn enemy - for with his new heartbeat comes a consuming sexual desire that can be slaked only by her. Denying him, she flees, struggling to forget his searing, possessive kiss.

The Hunt is on

She eludes him for five years, but he has finally chased her to ground and stolen her enchanted jewel, giving him absolute power over her. Now that she's his for the taking, he intends to make her experience firsthand the agonizing, unending lust she subjected him to for half a decade. Yet when Nikolai realizes he wants far more than vengeance from Myst and frees her, will she come back to him?

Good Prequel for the Immortals After Dark Series.

Tales of Valkyries, Vampires and ghouls . This is a prequel to the series 'Immortal After Dark'.
It tells the story of Myst and Nikolai Wroth which is an important relationship in later books. Powerful story as always with a good narration by Robert Petkoff.
Parts of this and later books in the series can be sexually graphic so if you don't like that sort of thing don't read it. For me it doesn't matter either way but I do prefer attentive kind love.

A+++++ For Narration and Story

Having really gone off reading paranormal romance I wasn’t sure if I would get into this one. I read paranormal about ten years ago, and struggle to read them now, my main reading likes being contemporary. I was really surprised. I loved the story, and the characters Mist and Roth were fantastic. I especially loved Roth’s voice. The narrator did a wonderful job. Will definitely be listening to the rest in the series.

Robert Petkoff made me buy it

Love all the IAD series, but had skipped this one. So glad they remade the audible with R.P. Great story and makes me want to start over with the rest of the series. Noticed audible doesn't seem to have pre order on upcoming releases, hope the will consider giving us that to look forward to (as long as R.P. is the narrator).

Loved it even more with Robert at the helm.

Robert brings something more to yhe table. I had already fell in love with Mist and Roth. To have theire story brought to life with the voice of the series just made it that much more.

Wonderful new beginning

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, because it is a revamped version of the original but most importantly because it now has the right narrator! Robert Petkoff was meant to be the narrator of this entire series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Myst--it was like getting to meet her all over again.

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, It was just as phenomenal as the other IAD books he has narrated.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and I did.

Any additional comments?

So many Easter eggs dispersed in this that give hints as to what is to come in the series. Great new beginning.

I did not like this one

I normally love books by Kresley Cole, however, this one I had to force myself to finish. I did not enjoy how often I rolled my eyes at all of the cliches. Nothing turns me off of a book faster than the whole 'Not communicating and both misunderstanding right until the very last second, but oops they are gone now.' trope. It's been so overused that I can't stand it. I know misunderstanding happen constantly, but I'm so sick of this one constantly being used. Though as an author I am sure it's probably hard not to use it because it DOES happen so often in life, but I just can't stand it myself. I still love this author and her work and I'll try the next book from the series, I really hope it's better than this.

New Twist, I've Found My Next Series!

This series seems to feature all of the usual Fae characters; vampires, werewolves, Valkyrie, ghouls, wraiths, etc, etc. This is the first book, sort of an introduction to the world painted here and it hits the mark easily. All with little intriguing twists on the lore. In my mind, it would be rated R+++, it is hot and sexy. The writing is smooth, at first I was worried about continuity, but it catches up with itself and I was easily able to forget any early on issues as the book progressed. It is well written and easy to follow, and it did make me blush! Robert Petkoff is amazing, easily in my top 5 narrators now. His accents are top notch! I will definitely continue this series, and I feel it is worth a listen if you like supernatural love stories that have (ahem), bite.
