Summary
Part Romani, noblewoman Evangeline Caruthers is the last woman in England Ian Hamilton, the Viscount Warrick, could ever love - an immoral wanton responsible for his brother's and father's deaths.
Vangie thinks Ian's a foul-tempered blackguard, who after setting out to cause her downfall, finds himself forced to marry her-snared in the trap of his own making. When Vangie learns the marriage ceremony itself may have been a ruse, she flees to her gypsy relatives, declaring herself divorced from Ian under Romani law. He pursues her to the gypsy encampment, and when the handsome gypsy king offers to take Ian's place in Vangie's bed, jealousy stirs hot and dangerous.
Under a balmy starlit sky, Ian and Vangie breech the chasm separating them, yet peril lurks. Ian is the last in his family line, and his stepmother is determined to dispose of the newlyweds so her daughter can inherit his estate. Only by trusting each other can Ian and Vangie overcome scandal and murderous betrayal.

A highly entertaining listen
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Viscount's Vow?
I liked the scenes at the beginning where the Viscount was watching Evangeline at the ball and how he managed to get himself caught in a compromising position.I loved reading how the pair fell in love despite all the problems that got thrown their way.I enjoyed all the suspenseful elements in the story as well.
Which character – as performed by Stevie Zimmerman – was your favourite?
I really like Evangeline's character. She was very sweet, kind and forgiving and she certainly deserved a HEA after all the hardships she endured.

Decent enough story. Good narration.
This was a decent enough story. It had my attention enough to keep me listening\reading.
I liked the Vangie well enough, although I do wish she would have been a bit stronger female character. She was a bit too meek for my preference in a heroine. I liked Ian well enough, he was kind, handsome and strong. They did have some chemistry together and there are a couple nicely written sex scenes.
The story line and plot was decent. The evil stepmother was really vicious. The problem I had was there was very little dialogue at all! It was all story telling. And the misunderstanding that caused Vangie to leave him was a bit stupid after what the stepmother did to her. Why would a person even consider what the evil stepmother said, ever?? That stupid part and the hardly any dialogue bothered me. Not enough communication for me. Not a bad story, but it could have been much better.
As for the narration, Stevie Zimmerman is hit or miss with me. More recently its been a hit. Sometimes I love her narrations and sometimes not so much. She did a very good job with this one. The men sounded like men, the hero sounded handsome and strong. Everyone had their own distinct voice and she had a nice reading voice. I would listen to more of her books if she continues to get better like she has in this book.
Free read with my KU subscription and 1.99 for the audible so it was a good deal.

Evangeline finds true love.
The Viscount's Vow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ written by Collette Cameron
Evangeline Cauthers, although, a noble women has been given the reputation of a wanton women. It has been believed by Ian Hamilton, the Viscount Warwick that she was responsible for his brothers demise as a result of a duel.
Ian makes it his mission to further ruin Evangeline. However, the tables turn when he finds himself in a compromising situation with her and must subsequently marry her.
This books is full of twists and turns. Revenge and then love develop between this unwillingly married couple. Add to the fact Evangeline is from a Romani background this becomes a fully intriguing and delightful book.
Good show Ms Cameron.

A fine Regency romance
I'm always on the look out for a great Regency romance. While The Viscount's Vow had promise, it fell just a little short for me.
Let's start with the good. I appreciated the fact that Evangeline was part Romani and it was a key part of the story. She has some interesting skills learned from her Romani family and her visit to the Romani camp was a nice turn in the story.
And the not so good. I had trouble caring about both Ian and Evangeline. I found Evangeline to be on the weak side, not standing up for herself and so forth, but I suppose that comes from having a hard life. I didn't particularly like how she kept jumping to wrong conclusions, which I guess what mostly to add some length and conflict to the story. And I really didn't like the villain... and not in a good way. I felt the villain was so over the top evil with no redeeming qualities and I found it hard that no one seemed to see it. I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't sit well with me.
The narration was by Stevie Zimmerman. Her English accent almost sounded a little too proper for the story and she doesn't really change her voice much for the different characters. But her pacing is good and she enunciates well and I don't really have any complaints of her performance.
Was this my favorite story? No. But it wasn't the worst I've ever read either. For me it was a middle of the road read and I'll likely try more from Ms Cameron in the future.
I was given a copy of this audio book for review, but all opinions are my own.

Romance that will make you smile.
Stevie Zimmerman is a good narrator. Not perfect, but one of the better female narrators that I have listened to. When I say not perfect, it is mainly because sometimes the phrasing of sentences seems wrong...a pause where there shouldn't be which entirely changes the way the sentence comes across. It's just a little thing, but it bothers me. Other than that, her characterisations are good, and I enjoy the emotion she puts into the dramatic scenes.
As for the story itself, well it deserves more than 5 stars! This story had it all. There were moments that I was in tears of laughter, especially during a particular bedroom scene. Other times I cried tears of sadness, yes actual tears. Then there were times when I was so angry, not only at the evilest villainess you will ever read about but about Cole's stupidity when it came to her. Of course, there were sigh-worthy moments, swoon-worthy moments and moments of absolute elation. The story really made me run the gamut of emotions and I loved every minute of it. I am definitely going to read the rest of the series!

a sweet happily ever after story
When Ian believes a rumor about Vangie, he believes it and he is going to make her pay. Vangie thinks Ian is overbearing and a beast. Mix in a Wicked stepmother and a forced marriage and you get the makings of an interesting twisted story..... I always enjoy Collette Cameron's books.

An unusual mix of cultures
Would you listen to The Viscount's Vow again? Why?
Yes I would, the narrator gave an excellent performance and also the storyline was different in that there was a mix of cultures, British and Romani. There was also the action in the story and a few surprises.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Oh gosh I don't think I can choose one, Ian, because he was strong and steadfast, Vangie, as she was kind and strong, even though she had a hard life with her uncle and aunt. Aunt Edith for her forthright remarks.
What does Stevie Zimmerman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Stevie Zimmerman really brings the characters to life and gives them another dimension to reading the book. The different voices she uses are so apt. This isn't the first audiobook I've read narrated by Stevie and each one has been excellent.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Probably when Ian stood with and spoke up for the Romanis against the magistrate.
Any additional comments?
This was a very good book to listen to, even though it is good length. It was easy to pick up on the story the next time I listened. I have found that any story by Collette Cameron is an entertaining read. I was given a copy and I have voluntarily and honestly reviewed it.

A Delightful mix of Drama, Tears and Humor
I have come to enjoy the quirky humor of Collette Cameron woven into the fabulous story involving chicanery, Regency splendor and of course romance.
A fast paced tale that made me happy to have the audio version so I could listen as I kept going about my work. I found I couldn't turn it off!
Vangie and Ian's story tears through the web of an evil stepmother's deceit, the Romani Gypsy influence from Vangie's family and their own insecurities of unsure love.
You're sure to love this audio book as much as I have. Certainly worthy of 5 stars!!
