Story
Power has an appearance and appearance has power. Ideally those two would line up together and the world would be full of good, masculine men who dress and look like good masculine men. But all too often, reality is something different. There are good men and strong leaders out there who dress and look like children or bums. There are awful, lazy men in the world who dress in a way that hides their vices from those around them and makes them appear better than they truly are. In an attempt to correct for these disparities, our current culture tries to rob both appearance of its power and power of its appearance - to say that the way a person dresses or looks doesn’t - or at least shouldn’t matter.

Good, modern, civilized Western men today are expected to think like "citizens of the world" - obligated to everyone and no one. Natural, meaningful tribal connections have been substituted with synthetic, disposable consumer identities. Without a sense of who they are and what group they have a place in, modern men are becoming increasingly detached, disoriented, vulnerable, and ever more easily manipulated.

interesting view on the world
- By Wesley on 27-04-17
Summary
Most men today are sent off into society with a broken belief system, which they use to make choices that get them terrible results with life and women.
Men have been conditioned to be the quintessential "nice guy". They're trained to be overly humble, kind to a fault, and that just "being themselves" is enough to attract and keep the woman of their dreams. Men are told to believe that conventional masculinity is toxic and to put women ahead of their own interests, passions, and purpose.
This has led to an entire generation of men forming very unhealthy attachments to women that they, unfortunately, often make their sole focus of their lives.
The playbook to women and life has changed, but most men missed the memo.
Do you want to succeed and level up in every area of your life?
If so, then this book explains:
- The importance of maximizing your looks, money, social status, and game.
- Why it's essential to get genuine burning desire from a woman who wants to date you.
- The top 20 red flags that you must vet women for a long term relationship.
- How to become one of the top 20% of men that women swipe right for on online dating.
- Why smart men avoid marriage. And much more.
This book exposes the comforting lies you've been told throughout your life for what they really are, enabling you to become a truly authentic alpha who chases excellence and leads a successful passion-filled life.

Book on Alpha's wrote by a Beta
Book made a couple of good observations and gave some intresting insights. However, is clearly wrote from the perspective of a very damaged bloke. Book had potential, but important messages lost.
At the point he stated that if you are with a girl they can't have male friends - that is a complete insecure Beta move. A confident man that knows his self worth wouldn't have a problem with this and in fact would encourage this. They would not feel insecure or threatened.
Author comes across very damaged and hurt from previous failed relationships. He seems to take this damaged blured view of the world into future relationships meaning they are destined to fail. Never going to have a successful relationship following his ideas.
He goes into depth on red flags in women, but the bloke fails to recognise how many red flags he would be displaying to genuine women.
As a bloke I enjoyed listening to some of his points, particularly about the 'protected sex'. So it isn't all bad.
Just take what he says with a pinch of salt.

The best viewpoint on modern masculinity!
I wouldn’t be swayed by the “Alpha” in the title, because this book breaks down the current crisis in modern masculinity and conveys that you should accept it and then learn to compete better in it. Similarly titled books just re-write old tropes about what an Alpha is and does.
I would recommend this book for all men, not just those looking for help.

Fantastic advice. Absorb whatever applies to you
Albeit some caveats, a fantastic book. Some chapters were outstanding such as those concerning the Alfa vs Beta men, online dating psychology, and why men should consider getting a motorcycle, to mention few.
However, arguments in some chapters, such as the one about marriage, were a stretch with respect to overportraying women as villains (not the author's intention). The various statistics used to support the author's arguments are interesting, but at times are also dubious without valid references.
All in all, one of my favourite reads offering plenty of wisdom gold nuggets. Simple language, clear voice (I used 1.3x audio speed), brief and succinct, and most importantly, without the PC bullshit you get in your classic 'self-helf' books. Recommended for every male and strictly unrecommended for any female.

Great content, unprofessional recording
The material is solid, spot on and I agree with everything. I also purchased a Kindle version as well as the audiobook to support the author. Five stars for the content and I highly recommend it. My gripe is with the recording itself. Richard is a self proposed successful entrepreneur and yet he can’t get a professional recording done? The entire recording was done with a noise gate to compensate for an unprofessional recording space (probably in his bedroom) on either a DBX 286 or plug-ins and it is very annoying. This recording was done in an untreated room, in an unprofessional environment. When he talks you can hear the background noise, when he stops it’s dead silent. This contrast throughout the entire recording gets annoying quickly. It’s unnatural and not smooth. For a self proclaimed successful person I would expect him to do much better. Either hire a professional narrator, get some acoustic treatment done in your recording space, or spend some money and rent a proper recording studio. I could understand if this was a 15 or 20 minute podcast but this is your book, people spend money on this product. Polish it! They deserve better. You have the means, this book has great ratings and you have a good following. The readers deserve it. It just lacks of integrity. Not ideal. With that said, I still recommend the book. As mentioned, it has great information which every man should be aware about and I hope the author eventually puts out more content but please don’t skimp out in your product next time. Spend the money and get a professional recording done.

I was disappointed. The Unplugged Alpha is a regurgitation of excerpts from Rich Coopers (entrepreneurs in cars) YouTube channel with very little in terms of new actionable material. Very little content, bland/negative content
I listened to this book on tape on 1.5x speed. You may need to as well, or you may fall asleep or your mind may wander. Author is somewhat negative against women, sounds like he has a chip on his shoulder, and his story confirms it. Doesn't seem he's that successful with women, because he doesn't give many examples of his successes, mostly his failures in business and in his marriages.
He offers some common sense tips on women, nothing profound or worth paying for this book.
He does reference some good books by Neil Strauss and Robert Greene.
Sad I paid for this book. Surprised it got such a high rating.

Nothing Original
I found this book to be very similar to others of the style. A collection of messages striving to enlighten and inspire. Nothing I heard here have I not heard before from books like Dad's Starting Over and No More Mr. Nice Guy. So if want to hear more of the same go for it. Having already read the aforementioned books, this did nothing for me.
The concepts being very crassly stated and uneloquent isn't my style. The carrot on the stick remains sex, no matter what. "See reality and how people are, so you can get your crap together and then bang more women" is a central theme. Taking responsability for ones own life is crucial, but the incentive of a more wild sex life is lacking in the calling for a more devine purpose. Sex can hardly compensate for the tragedy of existance.
At times it was akin to listening to a frat boy attempting to present himself as an enlightened monk to the guiles of women and their collective inability to make conscious decisions. Simply put don't go here for an authentic unjaded look into humanity, relationships, or masculinity.

when I look at books like these I always think, "oh, here we go again with another guru that wants to show me how to get laid", but this isn't really the case here. This book instead, provides a perspective that rationalizes certain dating behaviors within modern westernized societies and encourages the reader to think realistically on their approach to the landscape of these societies. The book encourages self growth and development and provides an inspirational ideology to live by.
