About this listen

A starship lost. An enemy revealed. A galaxy on the precipice of extermination.

Soren hasn’t found his daughter, but the terrifying truth of her disappearance has come to light, and with it knowledge of a threat beyond imagination. With the Federation woefully unprepared and the Wraith and her crew grounded, nothing can slow the coming storm.

Like his father, Alex refuses to give up, and he’s not about to let anything stand in his way. He’ll do whatever it takes to see Soren and the Wraith back in the fight.

Otherwise, there won’t be anything left to fight for.

I overall enjoyed this sequel to the first book. I particularly LOVED the politics near the start of the book when the protagonist is on planet, I wish there was more in fact though I accept I may be a minority.

This book is filled with clichés "captain you're gunna want to take a look at this" and "the battle may be won but the war is not" are two examples. I must admit I found it more comical than annoying, trying to guess the common cliché coming up (I was right embarrassingly often.)

It's clear now though this series is aimed at younger people with no explitives used at all to my memory, which is fine, but is somewhat jarring when battle hardened veterans use child like curse words instead of swearing words, but doesn't ruin the book.

The story is exciting and there were a few moments that made me audibly gasp.

The narration is 10/10, perfection, he brings every character to life and adds true emotions to the words each character says, really helping to absorb oneself into this world.

A good follow up book leaving you wanting more

Invlolving story, fresh ideas, nicely depicted characters. Some not-as-engaging paragraphs but good enough to make me buy the next part.

Good listen

A very good sequel and a fantastic narrator that brings all the characters to life. The story is fast paced and full of intrigue.

A great sequel. Really brilliant narrator

A glimmer of X in his eye has been used so much in this series I should turn it into a drinking game (I’d be drunk)

Good story but reuse of certain phrases annoying

I liked the concept, seemed good. The narrator didn't work for me...the word "Wraith" was sometimes pronounced correctly and sometimes pronounced "rate" which was both confusing and annoying. there were a couple of other sloppy moments of poor diction, which is really not acceptable from a voice actor or narrator.

Interesting concept, but the narrator didn't work for me.
