Summary

They were identical in every way. Until the unthinkable tore them apart. Isolte and Viola are twins. Inseparable as children, they've grown into very different adults: Isolte, a successful features writer for a fashion magazine with a photographer boyfriend and a flat in London, and Viola, desperately unhappy and struggling with a lifelong eating disorder.

What happened all those years ago to set the twins on such different paths to adulthood? As both women start to unravel the escalating tragedies of a half-remembered summer, terrifying secrets from the past come rushing back - and threaten to overwhelm their adult lives.... A stunningly, unforgettable debut from a remarkable new talent.

Critic reviews

"Everybody has an opinion about twins and the bond between them. Well, this novel has two sets of twins and will make you curious to know more. The competition, the struggle for power but also the loyalty between them are extraordinary.... This novel reads like a modern fairy tale, I loved it" ( Pages & Pages, Sydney)
"Beautifully written with characters you'll learn to love" ( Dymocks Rouse Hill, Sydney)
"Sarginson's debut is a timeless and riveting piece that echoes the mystique and beauty of the lush, English countryside... bewitching" ( RT Book Reviews)

Very good

Slow start but really enjoyed story. Only downside is one of readers voices extremely monodrone, which made those chapters hard to stay focused. Other reader made up for it. On the whole very good

Could have been so much better

This story promised so much but did not deliver. It was very slow to start to unfold then two thirds of the way through came to life, reaffirming my decision to stick with it, only to really disappoint at the end. Having listened to it all I don't feel able to return it, but it is one of the most disappointing books I have listened to, and that's from a library of over 60 books. Full credit to the narrators, they were excellent but the story just did not flow properly

I really enjoyed this

If you like description then you will love this. Beautiful childhood memories that took me back, and issues I can relate to having suffered with an issue covered, it was done well, rushed at the end, but good
