Summary

In an unassuming house, on a quiet residential street in south London, a husband and wife are discovered imprisoned in their own home. Badly dehydrated, they’ve been bound and beaten. Worse still, their young son is missing. When DI Jack Caffery of the Met’s AMIT squad is called in to investigate, the similarities to events in his own past make it impossible for him to view this new crime with the necessary detachment. As Jack attempts to hold his own life together in the face of ever more disturbing revelations, the real nightmare begins….

Horrifying, unforgettable, and intense, The Treatment is a novel that touches the raw nerve of our darkest imaginings.

Edge of. Seat stuff

Very well narrated and the storyline twists and turns continuously right up to the end I’ll have to get the third book and probably the fourth book.
It’s a hard listen and not to be taken lightly showing a Seedy mentality of the world that most of us ignore because if it’s fear but if you like thriller and a bit of shock factor give Mo a go

A tough, tough listen but superb. At times I wondered whether I could carry on but just could not stop.

Excellently written with great twists and unexpected turns.

Really good.

Nail biting tension. Really good storytelling. Subject matter uncomfortable but the way it is told leaves you on the edge of your seat.
Not the ending I was expecting.
A really great book.

Brilliantly paced!

I’ve read the jack caffery series a long time ago and now listening to the audio version. Even better than reading it. The book is paced well and found it hard to turn off, the narrator is spot on with performance. It can be hard to listen to in parts due to the darkness of the storyline but it’s done very well, giving you what you need to know so you can understand the characters and their moves.
If you’re here after the first book then you won’t be disappointed. But You really do have to read Birdman first tho to get an understanding of the storylines that run in the background.
Would definitely read/listen to again.

very good sequel to "birdman"

i bought this book after finishing bridman and i was not disappointed.

again, well-paced and excellent narration, and the primary topic is difficult to comprehend (i'm saying no more to avoid spoiling).

i would certainly recommend (for reference, i like robert crais (my favourite), steven dunne, christopher fowler, 'the killing' was immense, and nesbo's 'headbunters'.)

as i noted on my review of "birdman" i've now gone for "tokyo" as the reviews for the other jack caffery novels don't praise the (different) narrator.

Simply brilliant

Flawless story, wonderfully told; of only it wasn’t for the terrible Scottish accent throughout....but happily overlooked for such a gripping listen altogether.

Gripping read

Excellent book, had me on the edge of my seat, cursing the perpetrators and willing Caffrey to find the victims.

Any additional comments?

Dark, scary and so well written. It is a terrific book you need a hard skin to read it tho'.

Very tough read from a theme point of view but absolutely gripping with excellent narration.

Mo Hayder is the best author I’ve discovered in a long long time!
