Summary

Book three of the Ciaphas Cain series.

An old rival, infighting with fellow Astra Militarum regiments and the small matter of a cult devoted to the Chaos God Slaanesh derail Commissar Cain's hope for a quiet and uneventful mission.

Ciaphas Cain's latest mission takes him and his Valhallan regiment to the planet of Adumbria to defend against an approaching Chaos invasion. However, infighting with fellow Imperial Guard regiments from the world of Tallarn, commanded by an old 'friend' of Cain's from the Schola Progenium and the uprising of a sinister cult on the planet puts paid to any hopes of an easy life.

another excellent adventure from Cain. a few editing errors, where the reader restarts a sentence 2 or 3 times, also where one reader begins over another. these are hopefully fixed soon.

still a brilliant audiobook, highly recommended

great story, audio edit needs fixing

As above, near an hour of the story is missing! Fortunately I'd read it before but it's missing important stuff :(

Ace story, missing a few chapters!

Very enjoyable story and performances.

The editing issues mentioned elsewhere appear to have now been solved.

A pity there are not more of these books available on audible.

Very enjoyable 40k

Loved it from beginning to end. Cain being the greatest survivor of the era!

As good as ever

Like the other books in this series, another excellent listen. However, the sound was poorly engineered with the narration switching in tone every so often halfway through a paragraph and the whole recording swapping between mono and stereo unexpectedly towards the end.

Excellent but strange sound issues.
