Summary

Lost meets The Passage in this incredible new thriller, for all fans of The Shining Girls and Stephen King.

They're here... The boy. The boy watch the boy watch the dead people oh Lordy there's so many... They're coming for me now. We're all going soon. All of us. Pastor Len warn them that the boy he's not to. The last words of Pamela May Donald (1961 - 2012)

Black Thursday. The day that will never be forgotten. The day that four passenger planes crash, at almost exactly the same moment, at four different points around the globe.

There are only four survivors. Three are children, who emerge from the wreckage seemingly unhurt. But they are not unchanged. And the fourth is Pamela May Donald, who lives just long enough to record a voice message on her phone. A message that will change the world. The message is a warning.

Great Story Telling

I listened to this after reading 'Impossible' by the same author. 'Three' was intruigung but nowhere near as much as 'Impossible' which had me totally hooked. I really like Sarah's style of writing. Looking forward to listening to more of her work in the future

Long, Interesting, not Brilliant - 4 Planes Crash

Strange book about Four planes that crash on the same day in different parts of the world and the conspiracies and intrigue that the world creates and the damage the aftermath causes.

We follow an investigative author who is compiling a book regarding the events including interviews, medical reports etc. This book was rather like a car crash you know you shouldn't watch but you can't tear your eyes away. The book follows the three or possibly four crash survivors, to find out if they are good or evil. Quite strong characters but a complex and unsatisfying ending.

Did I enjoy the book? - not really. Would I read it again? no I don't think I will.

Painful

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. I think it would be a better read than listen, in the same way that some plays should not be staged. The repetition of Twitter etc. streams was stomach churning. The readers are both talented and managed several accents with varying degrees of satisfaction. The South African accents in particular were way off the mark and I would suggest either not doing an accent at all or pay another reader who is comfortable with these accents.

Any additional comments?

This is an author to watch and I would definitely want to read more of her work. A well-researched book and interesting story line.

Not sure I get it.

Did I understand the book, no. Did that mean I didn't enjoy it, no. I either missed some parts or lost track of the narrative and found the ending rather odd, but I will probably read it again some time to get a better idea of what is going on.

It's like a car crash.. I couldn't stop listening!

Would you try another book written by Sarah Lotz or narrated by Andrew Wincott and Melanie McHugh ?

Where to start..?

1. The narrators were great, in fact they were brilliant!
2. The first chapter was great - sounded like it had a lot of promise.
3. The storyline got boring, very disappointing.
4. The ending, equally as disappointing if not more.

All in all, I am indifferent to the story and it might be because prior to listening to this book I was listening to the The King Killer Chronicles which is an awesome set of books. I might be a little biased sorry.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sarah Lotz again?

Maybe

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

They were brilliant. Loved all the acting, cries, sobs etc.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointmen

Any additional comments?

Nope

Excellent performance shame about the story

What did you like best about The Three? What did you like least?

The performances by the two actors memorable in their variety The general story and the way the story was told was very disappointing.

Has The Three put you off other books in this genre?

The starting premise of the book was good and I would happily listen to another book that started from the same point. But please don't take me to the same end point again.

What does Andrew Wincott and Melanie McHugh bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I loved their characters

Did The Three inspire you to do anything?

I was completely uninspired by the story. However, I never give up on a talking book and got to the end.

Go for Audio book!

What did you like most about The Three?

I "read" this as an audio book and my favourite thing was the amazing performance by the two narrators. I liked the clever, creepy story as it unravelled and how they bought the characters to life, I don't think the book would have been as enjoyable if I had read it myself.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - if I could have listened to this in one sitting I would have - I was always eager to be able to have time to spend with this book.

Any additional comments?

Before purchasing this book I had read lots of negative reviews about it - but at the end of the day it is only the reviewers opinion and what one person likes another doesn't. So I chose to ignore the negatives and try it myself.I would certainly recommend this as an Audible purchase rather than as a book that you read yourself, I think if I had read this myself I would have become easily bored with it as it jumps from person to person and country to country - BUT this has to be one of my most favourite Audible books as the narrators bring the book to life - from stifled crying and earie children that just kept me gripped from start to finish. Some people said they thought the ending was unsatisfactory - I disagree - but thats just my opinion! I certainly enjoyed it!

Where's the horror??

It's supposed to be a horror book, but I'd hardly count it as a thriller even. The building blocks of the story is good, it's just lacking in follow-through.

Tedious

What would have made The Three better?

the only way to make it better would be to have it rewritten.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sarah Lotz again?

Not a god damn chance.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, but so what, the story was awful.

What character would you cut from The Three?

hmmm. tricky, I mean they're all worthy of being cut but which one to choose? in fact I don't know. I've forgotten all their names.

Any additional comments?

14 hours of rambling nonsense, it was awful and I mean truly awful, it was dull, it was too long, the story wasn't engaging, oh and did I mention it was too long? ITS TOO LONG. there's about 8 hrs of story here stretched out into 14, why?
