Summary

Ever since the death of her fiance, Meredith Mancuso has shrunk from the world. Even with her successful writing career, she's not motivated to work. When her sister, Monica, begs for a favor, Meredith wants nothing more than to say no. But she's ultimately roped into pet-sitting an orphaned Yorkshire terrier named Prozac.

Blessed with spiritual wisdom and a high IQ, Prozac is an active pet-therapy dog. To heal broken-hearted Meredith, he rallies his fan club at Evergreen Gardens, an independent living facility, where he visits each week.

Prozac and the community of resilient older folks challenged by losses of their own propel Meredith, often against her will, back into the land of the living. Meredith learns that most people carry some sort of burden, but it's still possible to find meaning, purpose, and joy - and sometimes, even love - along the way.

You've just got to love Prozac (the dog!!)

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would certainly recommend this audiobook. I had previously read the ebook version of this story and was intrigued to see if I enjoyed the audiobook version as much - and I certainly did! Great story, well narrated, with mystery, fun and love elements - brilliant!

What did you like best about this story?

Prozac is an amazing character. It is so different to read a story told from the point of view of a dog - but there again, he's no ordinary dog, after all! An enthralling read/listen!

What about Veronica Pace’s performance did you like?

The narrator reads at an appropriate pace, using her expressive voice to bring the story to life in the imagination of the reader. I would certainly like to read other stories narrated by this lady in future.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I certainly had emotional reactions to this book. It takes the listener on a journey where they experience the full range of emotions - including many laugh out loud moments!

Any additional comments?

This is the first audiobook I've listened to and enjoyed for many years and certainly has whet my appetite to listen to more in future. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this one to anyone who enjoys escaping into laugh out loud mysteries with a side serving of romance!

What did I read?

I'm still sitting here wondering what I just read and why did I like it so much? Kathleen Gerard is a very unique writer that has a style I haven't ever read before.

This story is sweet and cute and heartbreaking and sad and... just funny. I couldn't have loved Prozac anymore and this story was just so consuming. Couldn't turn it off.

Veronica Pace is a favorite. There's nothing she can't narrate and this book proves that.

Cute story

it took me a while to get used to the narration. It was read with one voice, no changes in gender or character. It didn't take too long to get it, though, as the reading was done well and her inflections made the telling of the story interesting. The ending bothered me some, but it was Okay.

Different but Entertaining

The story was from the dogs point of view mostly. The narration got to be annoying after a while and I had to listen to something else then come back to this. I liked the line by the dog about being a people whisper.
