Summary

The truth about human history is about to be revealed...but will we be allowed to know it?

For thousands of years, the truth about human history has intentionally been suppressed and exploited.

For decades, scholars have been saying that the truth about human history will be found inside the Great Pyramid of Giza, but up till now no one has ever been able to find it. Those who tried have been ridiculed and persecuted.

Will Daniel Rossler and Dr. Sarah Clarke be allowed to uncover the real and true message? As they come closer to the truth, skepticism out of the academic community is replaced by evil and malicious adversaries, dumping them into a very hostile world where violence, deceit, and duplicity become their daily companions. The mysterious Orion Society with its deranged and psychopathic members, the CIA, the Marines, the Mossad, and even the president of the United States become involved. Not all of them have good intentions.

The Tenth Cycle is a full-length novel, a provocative technothriller about human history, conspiracies, and an ancient society with power and money that will stop at nothing to reach their sinister goals.

This fast-paced thriller adventure is the first book in J C Ryan's Rossler Foundation Mystery series.

Now let's go change the world.

Any additional comments?

A book in three parts - an investigation started by a journalist looking for a story series about the building of the Great Pyramid which blossoms into something so much more; a love story; a 'thriller' aspect of nefarious persons determined to halt the discoveries getting out into the world.

The investigation: quite fascinating and wide ranging, incorporating myth and legend, astrology, archaeology, mathematics, statistics, computer coding and linguistics. This part was, mostly, well done and if not totally convincing in it's entirety, was certainly plausible and thought provoking.

The romance. I think 'awful' sums it up succinctly.

The opposition: well, I guess it would have been rather a dull fictional story without something to spice it up, but the whole was poorly done and the main baddies were almost risible. The centuries old Orion organisation, super rich and powerful, yet totally secret seemed just that little bit too outlandish, incompetent (and known to so many!), it did not ring true.

Add in the poor characterisations and flat writing and this was a book I was seriously losing the will to finish by the time I was two thirds of the way through despite the good narration by William Gensburger. His voice was warm, well paced and modulated, and his protagonists were slightly differentiated in conversation. But given the often poor exchanges, especially during the growing romance scenes, even he must have found this hard work. There was also the annoying "End of chapter ..." stated after each section before the more usual continuing 'Chapter ...' followed by the heading, that further broke concentration. His delivery of the textual exploration of each new discovery, though, was excellent, read more like a factual document and so assisting the believability of the theories as they evolved.
So, a really interesting idea but badly presented. A book half the length, omitting the uninspiring romantic attempts, would have been at least twice as good. There were also half a dozen editting problems where words already spoken were repeated immediately after. I received my copy of The Tenth Cycle as a complimentary download from the rights holder, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you. With much to enjoy and ponder, I am sorry that the book as a whole did not live up to it's obvious promise.

Excellent!

Would you listen to The Tenth Cycle again? Why?

Yes. There's a few twists and turns in the book and the science around it and the pyramids is fascinating enough to encourage me to listen again.

What did you like best about this story?

The premise of the story from the first few pages of an earlier civilization through to the modern day unraveling of the secrets of the great pyramid are incredible. Also Daniel and Sarah are incredibly like-able characters, as are most of their friends and family that we meet along the way.

Have you listened to any of William Andre Gensburger’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No. The narration was great though. A nice easy voice to listen too but also one that keeps you listening to the story. There were a couple of points in the story that there seemed to be background noise, not from the narrator but almost from the location it was recorded. It wasn't distracting and the narration is really good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I think I did it in three car journeys. I really got into it!

Mystery book

What does William Andre Gensburger bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Narration is very good and clear.

Any additional comments?

If you like mystery, suspense, thrillers, and conspiracy with good clean healthy romance mixed in you will enjoy it. I enjoyed it very much.

Aweful ... Utterly aweful

Utter garbage!
Premise of story started reasonably well.
But deteriorated rapidly after third chapter!
Combined with the worst narration I've had the misfortune to struggle through in nearly a decade I will be getting a full refund shortly!

It was that bad I'm off to get my ears syringed
