Fans of BBC drama The Replacement will lap up this taut and suspenseful tale
I was blown away. The Girlfriend is the most marvellous psychological thriller . . . I couldn’t put it down and kept sneaking upstairs to read another few pages . . . Michelle Frances is a writer we’re going to hear a great deal about. Please read this genuinely exciting novel (Jilly Cooper)
The Girlfriend is a taut psychological thriller, the evil chillingly drawn. Every character is layered and beautifully twisted. Makes me consider running background checks on any potential spouses my children bring home! (Karen Rose)
Impressively compelling debut; the tension positively oozes from the pages . . . Keeps the reader on a knife-edge throughout
A juicy thriller and utterly compulsive reading (Jenny Blackhurst, author of How I Lost You)
Brilliantly twisty, a sharp, sinister and addictive read
The push and pull of characters who work to succeed from different angles create a story abounding with mysteries, revelations, and lies, making this novel one of a kind.

Some might say it’s predictable, however as a lover of this genre I must say that it threw me quite a bit and was not expecting the twist! Although this did come along about 3/4 of the way into the book, things just got better and more thrilling. So I wouldn’t say it spoiled the story at all. I normally have about 3 books on the go at the same time- this one I became enthralled in and raced ahead to the finish so definitely worth listening to!

Definitely worth a listen!

I enjoyed the book until the end. I didn’t like Emma. She behaved outrageously and cruelly. I never seem to get the ending I want.
I was so surprised to see the narration was read by Imogen Church. I avoid all the books she reads these day. Yet her narration here was quite normal and okay.

Not as good as her others.

Interesting story but lots of loose ends and slightly unbelievable ending. Overall good and characterisation by the reader was excellent

I really didn't like how Imogen Church narrated this book especially when it came to the male characters and Adrian in particular. In fact it spoilt the book at times for me
