Story
What if it was every day? This is the story of Sam Green, who really, really, really loves birthdays. He loves the special breakfasts in bed. The presents. The themed parties. Blowing out the candles on his cake. Everything. He is so excited about his 11th birthday, in fact, that he wishes it was his birthday every day. So at first it's quite exciting when his birthday happens again the next morning. And again. And again. And again....

Story
From the author of The Parent Agency comes a thrilling, funny and touching new adventure. Fred and Ellie are twins. But not identical (because that's impossible for a boy and a girl). They do like all the same things, though. Especially video games. Which they are very good at. They aren't that good, however, at much else - like, for example, football, or dealing with the school bullies. Then they meet the Mystery Man, who sends them a video game controller which doesn't look like any other controller they've ever seen.

Story
A brilliantly funny, gripping novel from a born storyteller, The Parent Agency is an epic wish-fulfilment adventure for every child - and for the child in everyone. Barry said, a third time, "I wish I had better parents!" And then suddenly the entire room started to shake. Barry Bennett hates being called Barry. In fact it's number 2 on the list of things he blames his parents for, along with 1) 'being boring' and 3) 'always being tired'. But there is a world, not far from this one, where parents don't have children.

Road trip / friendship madcap adventure for KS2
Amy has had to use a wheelchair since an accident took away the use of her legs. A petrolhead, she loves fast cars and her best friend, inventor Rahul 'souping up' her new electric wheelchair should be a dream come true. But her Dad won't like it... so Amy decides to travel to convince him to allow her to keep the Taylor Turbochaser... the problem is, he lives hundreds of miles away...
The story takes Amy and a small coterie of friends on a road trip around the country, avoiding parents and police, as they use their skills and wits to navigate and overcome a succession of minor difficulties on their way to Amy's father.
We listened to this in the car as an Audible audiobook. Baddiel narrates with actors taking on the roles of the cast. We did enjoy listening, but some of the audio quality was poor, some voices were hard to hear and quiet while the narrator remained loud and clear. It was just about possible to hear it all, but the volume was not consistent. I would still recommend the format for the story, (some good voices that broughts the young characters to life, some silly/stereotyped accents for the adults) but it needs adjusting.
Baddiel always brings his target market stories with humour and likeable characters, here a girl in a wheelchair is given life and made into someone you'd want to be friends with. He also gives us a warm family aspect that may bring a lump to the throat of adults reading/listening.
For ages 7-12.
With thanks to Nudge Books for providing a sample Audible copy.
