About this listen

Patisserie-chef Stevie is stuck in a rut. Her beloved Great Aunt Peggy has passed away and she’s lost both her job and the love of her life. Then she gets the call from the solicitor's office about Peggy’s will and everything changes.

When Stevie sees a quirky tea shop up for sale in the beautiful village of Tanglewood, she decides to take Peggy’s advice and turn her life around.

But the village isn't as idyllic as it may at first have seemed, and when the gorgeous but grouchy local stable-owner, Nick, shows up he seems like just another fly in the pastry batter....

A kind, soft wholesome story BUT totally destroyed by the narrator, no emotion, no change of pace and a changing of each character’s tone. It was a book that I was going to no finish but tried again and again. Please don’t use this narrator again

A good soft story

Story was ok but, if I am honest, the main character annoyed me with her silly behaviour. She came across as stupid and an unlikely match for the male lead. I listened to it all, but only because I had given up on my previous book, so felt I must see it through. I would be interested to see if Lilac's other books are better.

Bit of a weak story

The story itself is a lighthearted easy listen which I did like but the narration was awful, the accents are forever changing and poorly done and quite distracting. Would have preferred the narrator to just stick to one voice instead of ‘attempting’ accents 😂

Enjoyed the story

I did enjoy this book and would like to continue to listen to book two in the series. The plot was very predictable from the start but enjoyable non the less. The narrator's accent changes were difficult to follow and did spoil it a little for me.

Light hearted read

Standard girl meets boy etc but the book was not enhanced by the person reading aloud. It would have been better if she hadn’t attempted to give the characters voices, the welsh accent could have been Indian at times and the written portrayals of the characters were completely undermined by a very clumsy performance. Disappointing, I chose Audible so that I could avoid screens at night but if this a standard performance, I’m back to paperbacks!

Very predictable, awful reader
