Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Summary
Written by J.K. Rowling. Read by Sally Mortemore, Warwick Davis, Evanna Lynch, Jason Isaacs, Bonnie Wright, Noma Dumezweni and Jude Law.
Performed by talented actors from across the Wizarding World, this is the first ever audiobook edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which was originally written in 2007 by J.K. Rowling and has raised money for her children’s charity Lumos ever since.
As familiar to Hogwarts students as "Cinderella" and "Sleeping Beauty" are to Muggle children, Beedle’s stories are a collection of popular fairy tales written for young witches and wizards. So, if you’re wondering what’s in store in this brand-new audio edition...well, your ears are in for a treat.
Once you’ve checked this fabulous Hogwarts Library book out, you’ll start by hearing the author’s introduction, read by Sally Mortemore (librarian Madam Pince from the Harry Potter films). Then it’s time for the tales to begin....
You’ll laugh along to "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot" as you listen to the havoc wreaked by a father’s impish gift to his son, read by Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick - Harry Potter films).
"The Fountain of Fair Fortune" will take you on a quest through an enchanted garden, alongside three witches and a luckless knight, read by Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood - Harry Potter films).
In "The Warlock’s Hairy Heart", you’ll be warned about a young warlock who is fearful of love and turns to dark magic to avoid it at all costs, read by Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy - Harry Potter films).
The calamitous meeting of a foolish king, a cunning charlatan and a mischievous washerwoman unravels in "Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump", read by Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley - Harry Potter).
And finally, the most iconic of Beedle’s stories. "The Tale of the Three Brothers" - with its message of humility and wisdom - will introduce you, dear listener, to the Deathly Hallows, read by Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger - Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, London’s West End and New York’s Broadway).
Each of the tales is accompanied by wise and whimsical notes from a certain Albus Dumbledore, surely everyone’s favourite headmaster, read by Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore - Fantastic Beasts films).
We’re told these five fables have been firm favourites in wizarding households for centuries, and now it’s your turn to experience these tales from the Wizarding World, as you’ve never heard them before.
At least 90 percent of the proceeds* received by Pottermore Limited from this audiobook will be made available by the publisher to The Lumos Foundation for their work to help children worldwide out of institutions, so they can thrive in loving families and communities. The Lumos Foundation is a charity registered in England and Wales with registered charity number 1112575.
Around the world, more than eight million children live in orphanages and other institutions. What may be surprising is that about 80 percent of them aren’t actually orphans. They have family who could care for them, with the right support. Lumos is an international children’s charity founded by J.K. Rowling. Named after the light-giving spell in Harry Potter, Lumos’ mission is to ensure that by 2050 all children will grow up in loving, protective families.

Tales from Lumos: Transforming Children’s Lives
About the Performer
Jude Law has been honoured for his work on the stage and screen. He received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for his work in Cold Mountain and The Talented Mr. Ripley, winning a BAFTA Award for the latter. His many credits also include The Young Pope (Golden Globe nom.), Captain Marvel, The Grand Budapest Hotel, the Sherlock Holmes films, The Holiday, The Aviator, A.I. Artificial Intelligence (Golden Globe nom) and The Nest. When taking on the role of Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts films, he met with J.K. Rowling to learn all about the character’s intricate history. This is evident in his thoughtful and humorous reading of Dumbledore’s notes on each of the stories in The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
About the Performer
Best known for playing the feisty Gryffindor Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films, Bonnie Wright is an actress, film director and screenwriter. Her beautiful voice makes 'Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump' even more of a pleasure to listen to. Bonnie made her screenwriting and directorial debut at the Cannes Film Festival with Separate we come, Separate we go. She now has her own production company, Bon Bon Lumiere, and has written and directed several projects since. Bonnie is an ambassador for Lumos and also plays an active role in raising awareness around sustainability – particularly on the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans.
About the Performer
Evanna Lynch is an actress, activist and narrator. She came to prominence at fourteen years old for playing the kind and dreamy Ravenclaw Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films. Her lilting voice is the perfect guide around the enchanted garden of 'The Fountain of Fair Fortune'. Evanna lives in London with her beloved feline friend, Lil Puff, where she splits her time between acting and activism. Evanna is passionate about creating a kinder world, and has been involved in several non-profit projects and is an ambassador for Lumos.
About the Performer
'The Warlock’s Hairy Heart' could only have been read by Jason Isaacs, otherwise known as the notorious Lucius Malfoy – when he dons the blonde wig and a Death Eater’s uniform, that is. A BAFTA, Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor, he’s appeared on stage and screens both little and large for over 30 years. His other roles in uniform alone include Colonel Tavington in The Patriot, Captain Steele in Black Hawk Down, Major Briggs in Green Zone, General Zhukov in The Death of Stalin, Captain Lorca in Star Trek: Discovery and Captain Hook (and Mr Darling!) in Peter Pan. Jason is a seasoned audio narrator and has recorded, amongst others, all of Kate Atkinson’s Jackson Brodie Case Histories books, Thunderball by Ian Fleming and A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.
About the Performer
An award-winning actress, Noma Dumezweni played Hermione Granger in the Original West End Production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in London and featured in the original Broadway cast. Noma is a seasoned and captivating performer onstage whose velvety voice perfectly lends itself to her reading of 'The Tale of the Three Brothers'. Onscreen, Noma recently shone in Black Earth Rising and Mary Poppins Returns. 2020 will see her appearing in HBO series Made for Love and The Undoing.
About the Performer
As well as an actor, Warwick Davis is a television presenter, writer, director, comedian and producer. In the Harry Potter films, Warwick portrayed not one, but two, characters – the charming Professor Flitwick and Griphook the Gringotts goblin. Adding yet another string to his bow, Warwick will have you chuckling away with his narration of 'The Wizard and the Hopping Pot'. Setting up the talent agency Willow Management with Peter Burroughs, and the Reduced Height Theatre Company, Warwick has helped short actors be properly represented in the industry. As well as this, Warwick is a passionate advocate for Lumos.
About the Performer
Sally Mortemore (Madam Pince, Harry Potter films) reads J.K. Rowling’s introduction.

The Bard... JK Rowling
Sorry, but this was not too exciting for me.
JK Rowling is undoubtedly a very talented writer, however I personally feel that this is just another add on to the Hogwarts legacy. Sit on your laurels Ms Rowling, the books are weaving their magic to young and old.
That said, I am sure her undying fans will love it and have nothing said against the multimillionaire writer.

A good read but lacks Emma Watson.
This was a great audiobook that takes us back to the wizarding world of J.K Rowling. I really loved that they got the actors/actress who played Professor Flitwick, Luna Lovegood, Lucius Malfoy, Ginny Weasley (my favorite) to read the different chapters. The only thing I don't like and why I gave it four, not five stars, is they did not have the real Hermione Granger;Emma Watson, read the tales of the three brothers.

Unobtainable - Update Fixed!
I can review this book because it is in my library.
I cannot review this book because if I try to download it, I'm told it is not in my library.
I was really looking for an audiobook rather than a paradox.
I've no idea this problem is supposed to be fixed but I eventually just deleted the database (.db) file in my audible profile and let the program rebuild it. There's some weirdness but it works.

Disappointing
Based on the author's ability to capture a reader's attention, imagination and emotions I was very disappointed with this offering. I felt the Potter series characters references to it made me want to read it to discover the source of their enjoyment. That wasn't my experience, bland would be my way of describing it

Hard to enjoy because of sound effects.
I couldn't finish it. The sound effects were so distracting to the story that I couldn't enjoy it. the readings were ok. the stories themselves were a little short.

Amazing story!!!
I love this book because it is such a page turner. It has been one of J.K Rowling’s successes. It is the best extension of the Harry Potter. I love that it is read by the actors and actresses from the franchise. Definitely an incredible book.

Harry Potter Fans Must Have!
This is absolutely a must have! It has some of our favorite voices/actors from the Wizarding World like Luna, Jenny and Professor Flitwick. Then on top of that you get the extra insight from the young Dumbledore (Jude Law) after each fable which was really an incredibly fun addition to have him participate in the audio book. This edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard is completely immersive and family friendly as it is the wizard fables meant for kids. We definitely need more books narrated like this one to add to our Harry Potter collection.

Great for Harry Potter fans
I enjoyed this book more than I expected. The best part was the commentary about each story which made fairy tales relevant to modern wizarding issues. Nice cast of voices.

blah
Glad this was a freebee.
Aweful audio book all told. Definitely not for kids. Kids would lose interest after the first couple of sentences.
Voices were just plain bad and often overcast by. the noise meant to be part of the story. Why have all the Reader's voices when they all sound alike. Dumbledore was TERRIBLE. Flat voice, obviously female attempting to be male.
I listened for the first chapter and it was a waste. Just a very bad production and story.

Wonderful
Hearing all the actors narrate these familiar tales was an absolute delight. The sound effects were also well done.
