Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Taking of Annie Thorne by C. J. Tudor, read by Richard Armitage.
Then . . .
One night, Annie went missing. Disappeared from her own bed. There were searches, appeals. Everyone thought the worst. And then, miraculously, after forty-eight hours, she came back. Though she couldn't, or wouldn't, say what had happened to her.
But something happened to my sister. I can't explain what.
I just know that when she came back, she wasn't the same.
She wasn't my Annie.
I didn't want to admit, even to myself, that sometimes I was scared to death of my own little sister.
Now . . .
The email arrived in my inbox nearly two months ago.
I almost deleted it straight away - but I clicked Open:
I know what happened to your sister. It's happening again . . .
More from the same

So intriguing
Had me guessing the entire time. Still thinking even now it’s done. Different, chilling at times, thought provoking. Great book. Great narration too.

Really good listen
I loved the narrator on this book and the era it is set in. The story has you guessing and is creepy in places. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Almost a cracker
I could listen to Richard Armitage every day. Such an accomplished narrator which is why I chose this book. I enjoyed the suspense in this story and was gripped with the intrigue surrounding the 'pit' but it just lost a little something towards the end for me.

A great listen
This is a dark story, but with comedy in parts.
I couldn’t stop listening and it’s a book I’ll think about a lot.
Great performance by Richard Armitage.
I’ll be purchasing more of CJ Tudor’s books,

Fantastic
I loved this book and didn't want it to end.. Fantastic story and the narrator was excellent. It has been one of the best audible books I have listened to.

Narration so monotone
I really wanted to enjoy this book as I thought "the burning girls" was a great listen. I have listened to a few audiobooks narrated by Richard Armitage and do find he can be a little monotonous, but this time it was just plain depressing. The story line is a bit bleak and i realised listening to it was making made me feel completely fed up. I couldn't send it back, so I just fast forwarded large chunks,(something I never normally do) on a bright note the narrator who voices the last five minutes is great 😂

Loved it
This audiobook really pulled me in from the start.
I loved the main character, Joe. His character is very authentic and the narrator, Richard Armitage, brought him to life perfectly.
The story is great. It is original and unpredictable from start to finish.
I listen to audiobooks everyday while doing my jobs. But this audiobook stopped me from getting my jobs done. I would just stare into space while the story engulfed me. This happens often with this narrator. It always feels like he's in the room, reading the book to me.
This is the first book I've read from this author and I'll definitely be purchasing The Chalk Man next. I hope there are many more to come.

A great thriller!
Lots of twists I didn't see coming. Gets spookier as you go through. A few unanswered questions still, but can fill in the blanks with my imagination. Excellently read by Armitage once again!
