Summary

When former MI6 agent turned archaeologist Dr Ava Curzon is engaged by American intelligence to track down an African militia claiming to hold the Ark of the Covenant, she is plunged into a world where nothing is what it seems.

Her breakneck descent into the shadowy realm of dark biblical magic hurls her across continents and into the opaque worlds of the Knights Templar, freemasons, occultists and extremist neo-Nazis, pushing her mentally and physically to the limits.

As the plot twists and turns across the centuries, she requires all her skills to solve a trail of ancient clues leading her inexorably towards a terrifying ritual. Taking centre stage, she faces the ultimate battle against an age-old evil she must stop at all costs.

Awful... too much exposition & plot

This was not a good experience. The most convoluted plot imaginable, wooden prose, and crazy exposition. The characters are stereotyped cutouts, completely unbelievable. I struggled to get through this, nearly giving up several times. Silly silly story, only made more ridiculous in its stereotyped mysticism, contrived historicity, and fantastically contrived interrelated conspiracies. Don’t wasted your time!

Sword of Moses

Very disappointed after all the hype about this book, just wanted it to end which took a long time.

Tedious

I rarely give a poor review but this book is a collection of every cliche encompassed in a boys own adventure, except it was irritating and unexciting. I’m sure the author is an expert in his own field but writing fiction is not one of his gifts I’m afraid. Well tried but unsuccessful. This is not a book I will listen to again. It took determination to finish it. My quest is now at an end. Sorry to say there are better stories in this format out there.

Too Contrived

Overly long and lost it’s way on many occasions. The theory was good but could have been sharper and shorter ... much shorter for what it was.

Most annoying character

I enjoyed the overall story. However, I found the character of Dr Ava Curzon really irritating and more so the longer the story went on. A few times I nearly gave up listening but the storyline was good enough for me to grit my teeth and continue. For a supposing intelligent woman trained in archeology AND a background in secret service she was a complete airhead it was a miracle she survived the first 10 chapters. I really had to work at ignoring disbelief.

Just what a book should be, exciting and non stop all the way to the end :) and I learnt a bit too.

Too long

I doubt the author has ever been to Maze Hill. It over looks Greenwich park and the houses start at several million. The heroine was not that bright. Most people interested in biblical history would have recognised the figure on an upside cross as peter straight away. For an archeologist she was not interested in what the Ark is supposed to contain. I was tempted to give up several times but continued to the very very end.

Better than Dan Brown

This is a rollicking story about the recovery (or not) of the bits and pieces from the Jerusalem temple. Heroes, villains, neo-Nazis, Mossad, Vatican, British MI6, CIA, all get a role. Ridiculous really, but a fun story, and much better told than Dan Brown’s ludicrous stories.

Could have been very good

Dreadful writing accompanied by a flat and toneless reading equaled my abandoning the book half way through. First time that has ever happened
