Summary

Feared by monsters.

Envied by men.

Craved by women.

Kaeden is a nomad who lives life on his own terms. He prefers the unbounded steppe over a cramped city, and allegiance to the sword over fealty to a king. When he does make the occasional foray into civilization, it is to procure cold mead, a hot bath, and a good woman. The latter preferably for an hour or less.

Life is great, until his wanderings bring him to a forest inhabited by nightmares. There, trapped beneath those lightless eaves, he is forced to ally with a mysterious woman whose cunning and beauty could prove to be his downfall.

Either way, one thing is certain: If he is to die, then he will do so covered in the blood of his enemies.

Note: This book contains violent scenes, unconventional thinking, and harem elements.

Dear god...

Isaac wanted to write a story about a white knight but was apparently forced to make the MC a barbarian. The only thing barbarian about the MC is his looks and a hate for magic. That’s it. The “code” the MC goes on and on about was stupid and made me want to kill him off just so I could quit reading. But I tend to finish any book I start eventually. Austin Rising did a good job reading but couldn’t make me like the MC.

Incredible Voice Acting by Austin Rising, Incredible Story by Isaac Hooke

Unquestionably the best audio book I’ve ever listened to, and I’ve listened to a lot. What makes it different? Each and every character in the book has a completely unique voice, as if there are different actors. It’s uncanny how Austin Rising can change his voice to create the gamut ranging from the strong and noble Kaeden who follows his own code, to completely realistic human female characters, commanding English accents for kings and sorcerers, roguish voices for bandits, to even guttural-sounding monster voices, you name it. The story, on the other hand, feels short, and yet it’s a long book. You won’t want to stop reading, Isaac Hooke keeps you guessing and wanting more and more. Definitely worth listening to!

"Harem...Good....Code...Good"

Enter Conan, the code and his Harem.... wanted a little more out of this book, the plot had so much potential but it didn't feel like it was completely fleshed out. Still a great book, fun listen and not complex. Well worth the time and the credit. I would listen to future books in this series.

This book is provided at no cost for a fair and honest review.

Conan

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Conan mixed with harem and a dash or romance. Austin Rising did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to more.

Did not like it...

Not my kind of book, too much of the d word a sex.... I listen or read these books for the adventure, the battles and so on... If I wanted to hear about sex and love there is millions of romance books out there.... The narrator was good at times, I could tell if it was the writing g that turned me off to the narrator or if it was just him. He seemed.to have a good character depth so I'm thinking more the writing... But that's just my personal opinion you can take it or leave it...

Part Fantasy Novel & Part Harem Manga/Anime

The Sword is an interesting mix of genres to me, part epic fantasy and part Harem Manga/Anime. I generally liked most of the action and battle sequences and the story was ok but the 'romance' in it was a bit too much like fan fiction and could be pretty explicit with odd descriptions, 'flower' was used way too often. This book definitely won't be for everyone and may offend some but I definitely could see others enjoying it quite a bit.

The narration by Austin Rising was quite good and really made the story pretty enjoyable. The story itself was pretty interesting and the characters were as well but it seems written as a teenage boys fantasy of how he would get all the girls and still be the good guy and also have all the guys like and worship him which just doesn't seem completely realistic. Overall it was a fun book and if you like or can get past the harem/sex aspects then it would be something you would enjoy.
