Summary

This story contains violence, sexually explicit scenes, and adult language and may be considered offensive to some listeners.

From the Badlands to the Bluegrass, this perilous, potentially deadly adventure changes the lives of everyone involved and puts at risk the survival of the Clan and all the Celtic brooches. While dressing for a dinner date with her cousin George Williams and James Cullen Fraser, Ensley Williams picks through her jewelry box for some bling to add to her outfit and chooses her late mother’s sunstone brooch. Engraved on the inside of the stone is an inscription. When she recites the Celtic words, she’s engulfed in a peat-scented fog and transported back to the Dakota Badlands in 1885 where she meets Teddy Roosevelt at his Elkhorn Ranch.

When James Cullen discovers Ensley has disappeared, he decides not to tell his family that he’s going back to rescue her, which is the worst decision he’s ever made. After finding TR at his ranch, Ensley’s not in a hurry to return to the future. She grew up on a North Dakota ranch near the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and this is a dream come true. She wants to go on a roundup with TR, while JC wants to go to MacKlenna Farm and “borrow” some gold from Braham McCabe’s secret cache.

JC makes the second-worst decision of his life and leaves Ensley in Roosevelt’s hands. While Ensley struggles with bad weather, bad food, stampedes, and wild animals, JC goes up against an evil force that plunges him into a crucible of terror and agony that could bring down the entire MacKlenna Clan.

Another fantastic book

I really enjoyed this book. I particularly liked that there was a male and female narrator...although he couldn't hold a tune like the character was supposed to! The storyline didn't disappoint and I can't wait for the next one!

Absolutely brilliant

Loved every second of it and of all this series. I have listened to all the other books twice and some of them three times and will definitely listen to them all again when the next one comes out. I can't get enough of them they're absolutely brilliant. Can't wait for the next one. Please write faster.
The narrators were both brilliant accept for the kids voices. But I prefer it when there are both Male and female narrators.
I definitely recommend this book and the whole series.

Most epic adventure in the series this time tavel

Most epic adventure in the series this time there's three different stories in one in one book. look forward as soon as possible next book series to come through. this episode of the series in the sunset broke is revealed a lot of Secrets and Surprises concerning Eric Viking how tall is the Cliffhanger and and as was other mission mysteries that resolve from the beginning the book. I do suggest to be pet before you read the book to start the beginning of the book series even do you ready have in the past might miss some references and probably prepared that you might want to be hashtag after you finish with sunset brooch read listen again well waiting for the next who booked in the series.

So disappointed

I have purchased the whole Brooch series in book and auditable . I have loved the series up till now. The narrators are horrible! Particularly the woman narrator. She has a very unpleasant voice and sounds like it’s the first time she read the script. Very unbelievable.Cringe worthy. Not to mention she makes Ensley the character she reads for sound rude, nasty And very unlikeable.I did listen longer this attempt than the last time I tried to listen to this book but only because I forward past some of the female character parts.
Who ever chose the narrators ruined the series. This series was one of my favorite up until now. I have just shy of 550 auditable books I’ve bought and listen to over the last 10 years. I can say this narration is almost if not the worst I’ve heard. I sincerely hope that it is redone by the previous narrators or people who at least sound similar or have a gift for bringing life the the character. I can’t stress enough what a disappointment The Sunstone Brooch is . It does not do this series any favors. I will avoid this female narrator in the future and recommend you not waste your money on the auditable version.

Sunstone Brooch

Katherine L Logan is such a great author. These Brooch novels are definitely involving becoming a bit more paranormal than just time travel, something I enjoy. I am a real fan of this series and always look forward to next book. What I love is that each book has an ending. At least that was the case in the beginning. The last book introduced the new threat and this book seriously elaborated on it but I am a little confused. I will have to relisten to this book because I don’t get The Tavis character. He every bit a person from today. Military, security employments but then he has a life in the 12th century. Then Ensley is his sister. Yeah, I need to listen again. I still give this 5 stars cuz I love getting a dose of history and cowboy trivia while reading fantasy fiction.

The Sunstone Brooch was Awesome!! Loved it!

KLL took us on another fabulous adventure with rich character development and amazing travels. Meeting Teddy Roosevelt and going on a round up - well I felt like I was there with Ensley and Austin. 27 hours of listening was just not enough!! I wanted more. I have just reread the first 10 books to prepare for this book. And what a ride!! Love Katherine Lowry Logan!! I must say the narration was excellent. Marnye Young and Patrick Zeller really inhabited each character. I could identify the characters by their voices. This book was a total joy. I need book 12 now!! I need to find out how JC will come back to himself and the family. Thank you KLL for this excellent adventure!

Who Will be Next?

I have loved all of the Brooch series books, but this one is my favorite. I enjoyed the more “mature” dive into the characters’ experiences and I hope the author continues along that line- the heck with the naysayers who don’t appreciate those aspects of the story lines (I guess there are some, based on the publisher’s description & a parallel in the plot). My one criticism: I wish she would write faster!
