Summary

To the outside world, Electra D’Aplièse seems to be the woman with everything: as one of the world’s top models, she is beautiful, rich and famous.

Yet beneath the veneer, Electra’s already tenuous control over her state of mind has been rocked by the death of her father, Pa Salt, the elusive billionaire who adopted his six daughters from across the globe. Struggling to cope, she turns to alcohol and drugs. As those around her fear for her health, Electra receives a letter from a complete stranger who claims to be her grandmother.

In 1939, Cecily Huntley-Morgan arrives in Kenya from New York to nurse a broken heart. Staying with her godmother, a member of the infamous Happy Valley set, on the shores of beautiful Lake Naivasha, she meets Bill Forsythe, a notorious bachelor and cattle farmer with close connections to the proud Maasai tribe. But after a shocking discovery and with war looming, Cecily has few options. Moving up into the Wanjohi Valley, she is isolated and alone. Until she meets a young woman in the woods and makes her a promise that will change the course of her life for ever.

Sweeping from Manhattan to the magnificent wide-open plains of Africa, The Sun Sister is the sixth instalment in Lucinda Riley’s multi-million selling epic series, The Seven Sisters.

Compelling and beautiful

Another spellbinding book by Lucinda. I was absolutely addicted to the story lines, yet again, and found myself obsessed with the tales of the women involved. Cannot wait for more!

Just wonderful!!!

Another wonderful story from the Seven Sisters Series! I laughed, I cried & most of all I just couldn’t stop listening! I’m a huge fan of Lucinda’s work & these stories just get better & better! Loved the narration too & I’m hoping that it won’t be too long to wait until the 7th sister breezes in to our lives! Thank you!

Another great story

The seven sisters have never failed to grip me. This one I was a little worried about. Electra, rich supermodel was going to be a little tough for me to like. Or so I thought. Her character with all her flaws grew and took me on her journey. Along with Cecily on the remote African plains and an unexpected find that would change the course of her life. If you’ve read the others you won’t be surprised this is so good. If you haven’t start at book 1 and enjoy.

Good but...

Good story, but the voice of Electra was a bit odd. Difficult to describe. But the tone of the voice was borderline sarcastic sounding when the situation didn’t call for it.

Engaging

I enjoyed Lucinda Riley's penultimate Seven Sister's book. I have enjoyed all of the Seven Sister's stories and this much awaited sister did not disappoint. As always the characters are engaging and the two storylines unwrap beautifully with excellent narration. I highly recommend this book.

Still enjoyable

Not as good as the other books but still hugely enjoyable. The voice of Electra was very annoying the inflection in the pronunciation was making me wish I read this book rather then listened to.

Amazing!

Brilliant read, yet again! I'm so excited for the next one to be written too! Narrators were great, apart from the dodgy Scottish accent of Bobby done by the 2nd narrator, but didnt take anything away from how good the book was overall! I hope we're not waiting too long for the next one :)

I can't listen to this! Narrator is terrible!

I have enjoyed this series for 5 books and was awaiting the 6th book, to be shocked at the quality of the narration and that just ruined the entire story.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

Disappointing

Compared to previous audiobooks in this series, The Sun Sister just does not hold up. The story is dull, blunt, very drawn out and predictable. There is nothing magical in this one, unlike in the rest of the series. Narrator’s voice for Electra very irritating. Happy that it is over - and yes, I have no curiosity about the last sister.

Not worth the wait!

Very disappointing! Dull, drawn out, juvenile, and lacking the in depth history of previous books.

I could not wait for the kindle version so decided on the audio books, the narraters voices are terribly whiny,

I love the seven sister series, until this one.

I am on chapter 24 and having a hard time. The narrator for Electra is terrible. So far, the story is only drugs and alcohol abuse. The past located in Kenya is better, but not nearly the quality of Ms Riley's other books. I was so excited to get book #6, now pretty disappointed. I'll finish the story, if it gets any better I'll let you know.
Ok, finished it. Way below the writings in previous 7 sister books. Too much in your face political, woke, references. Really, How many times can you slip in Obama?
I'm anxious to hear about sister #7! I was disappointed to not have a sighting of Pasalt in this one.
Please, do not use same narrator!!!! This one was torture to listen to!

How to make a boring book even more boring

Use the wrong narrator.
I cant believe how bad this is - absolutely loved all the previous books in the series.
Really a bad effort - had expected so much more.

Disappointment on every level

This was dull, slow and the Narrator sounded like she was half asleep all the time. Nothing like the first 5 books in the series. Awful. Only finished so I would have the facts for book 7.

Not a fairytale

Many reviewers were upset by the narrator's voice. I found her voice strong and authentic. Perhaps my ears are more accustomed to diverse voices. The story is lovely and challenged me to listen through the bluntness of reality. However, the story very gently navigates you through some of the toughest issues in social injustice across two continents. This isn't a fairytale but a tale of life, strughle and perseverance. Brava Lucinda Riley.

Not as good as the rest...disappointed

I was super excited for this book! But disappointed. The narration languages were all over the place. The historical storyline was boring, Especially after the previous books. felt like she stretched hard to just finish this book. I loved the addiction aspect and wanting to do good with her fame. It wasn't bad but wasn't great.
