Summary

Can a gentle werewolf heal the heart of a smart-mouthed mage?

New York Times best-seller Gail Carriger, writing as GL Carriger, presents an offbeat gay romance in which a sexy werewolf with a white knight complex meets a bad-boy mage with an attitude problem. Sparks (and other things) fly.

Max fails everything - magic, relationships, life. So he works for DURPS (the DMV for supernatural creatures) as a sumage, cleaning up other mages' messes. The job sucks and he is in no mood to cope with redneck biker werewolves. Unfortunately, there is something oddly appealing about the huge, muscled Beta visiting his office for processing.

Bryan AKA Biff (yeah, he knows) is gay but he is not out. There is a good chance Max might be reason enough to leave the closet, if he can only get the man to go on a date. Everyone knows werewolves hate mages, but Bryan is determined to prove everyone wrong, even the mage in question.

Sequels need to hurry up!! :))

Would you listen to The Sumage Solution again? Why?

Yes. The chemistry and interactions between Max and Brian is worth a thousand listens. I loved thier banter, their inner monologues and just thier conversations.

What other book might you compare The Sumage Solution to, and why?

Probably The Blood & Bone Series by Lia Cooper. Both series feature a wizard & werewolf in a m/m romance. Although The Blood & Bone series has a more darker theme as it is a detective series. The Sumage Solution was more mellow and grounded in plot. But I like both series and am looking forward to the sequels in the Saint Andreas Shifters series.

Have you listened to any of Kirt Graves’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No. This was my first introduction to him. He did a good job. As it is the first series I am looking forward to seeing how he does in the sequels. I am particularly looking forward to his version of Colin or Lovejoy.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes if i could but alas sometimes work and sleep must be a priority.

Any additional comments?

Only knocked a star of for the story as the climax was a bit predictable but a good cliche with loveable characters done right = a faboulous listen! And also to those who enjoyed this story definitely check out Blood and Bone series by Lia Cooper.

A great new story

Unlike some of her other work, this series is set in the modern world (with werewolves etc!!).

This is a great story. The leads are gay werewolves, with the struggles you may imagine that can entail. loved the characters, story and romance (although not for younger listeners!) .

Perfection

Hot. So hot. But that isn’t even the best thing about this fabulous audiobook. The story is just wonderful, as in an actual thing of wonder. Gail Carriger is an author I have long read and admired, her exceptional talent married with a truly skilled reading by the narrator made this a moving, hilarious and pleasantly tingly listen. Highly recommended. I’m now off to get as many more of these as possible…

Great new series

I love these characters. I don't know how Ms Carriger does it but she has this knack of combining perfectly relatable characters, with an interesting plot. I just love her work and even though The Sumage Solution is different from her Steampunk novels, the stories are just as enthralling. Would highly recommend.

I recommend all Gail’s books!

Love the San Andreas Shifters and that Gail has reused Biff from her Steampunk books. I recommended this book to a author friend who writes gay contemporary and fantasy stories, even before I’d listened to it! Please write more Gail!

Really loved this book!

I must admit this was my first shifter book...and what a good choice! Amazing character, love the plot and with Kirt Graves brilliant performance this was a very enjoyable book! Can’t want to start the next in the series. I didn’t know exactly what to expect but 10/10 all the way!

A sweet fantasy romance, great world building

I really enjoyed this sweet tale, set against a backdrop featuring every supernatural character you can think of. Although I hadn’t read anything from this series previously, the world building creatively explained everything I needed to know, without a huge infodump - excellent crafting from the author. Max and Brian are a great couple and I enjoyed seeing their story develop, alongside large amounts of snark and witty dialogue. As always, the author creates engaging main characters and a interesting supporting cast. Highly recommended if you want a funny and fantastical romance!

Brilliant Series

I love this series. Kirt Graves is one of my favourite narrators and really brings the story to life. The characters are funny and sexy and engaging. I need more of them, I've read the series so far 3 times in a month!
