Story
Gerry and Bernie London are proud parents of Tony, Sean and Ned, three wayward lads whose lives have suddenly reached crisis points. Newly divorced Tony is fantasising about someone he really shouldn't. Prize-winning novelist Sean's got a hot new girlfriend and a dose of writer's block. Ned's just back from Australia, without the girl he took with him - or a clue what he's going to do with his life. If that wasn't enough for one household, the Londons also have a new lodger - a mysterious rockabilly called Gervase. Will he turn out to be a friend - or foe - to the family?

Story
The Heights is a tall, slender apartment building among the warehouses of Shad Thames, its roof terrace so discreet you wouldn’t know it existed if you weren't standing at the window of the flat directly opposite. But you are. And that’s when you see a man up there - a man you’d recognize anywhere. He’s older now, and his appearance has subtly changed, but it’s definitely him.

Story
It all happens so quickly. One day you're living the dream, commuting to work by riverbus with your charismatic neighbour Kit in the seat beside you. The next, Kit hasn't turned up for the boat and his wife, Melia, has reported him missing. When you get off at your stop, the police are waiting. Another passenger saw you and Kit arguing on the boat home the night before, and the police say that you had a reason to want him dead. You protest. You and Kit are friends - ask Melia, she'll vouch for you.

Story
Women are rarely cold-blooded killers. But when famous philanthropist Hugo Fletcher is found dead, there is no doubt in anybody's mind that the killer is a woman. And it is clear from the precision of the planning that this was no crime of passion. It was an execution. The victim was revered the world over for his charitable work with trafficked Eastern European prostitutes, and as at least one of these girls is missing, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is certain that there has to be a connection.

The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

Loved this brilliant book
I really enjoyed everything about this book what a great author. The characters were so well defined and the narration excellent. There were no real twists or dark threads just a story about relationships and obsession. I would recommend this as a great holiday listen. I am enjoying all of this authors books.

Really?
What a ridiculous and dreadful story. Couldn't stand Christie - it really went rapidly downhill with her whining conversation with the Police, I cringed. A farfetched and stupid plot. I don't recommend this title at all. Struggled to the end to see how it finished and wish I hadn't bothered. I like Candlish as a writer, she employs clever language and imagery but it felt wasted on such an awful storyline. And it had such potential!

Disappointing
This book celebrates an adulterous lying self-obsessed woman who covers up an affair by accusing her lover and father of her child of rape. I read one book by Louise Candlish which ended disappointingly and this one, sadly, was exactly the same. The narrator read fairly well but the story was weak and the characters one-dimentional. Shan't read another by this author.

Yawn!
Boring and predictable, I persevered in the hope something interesting would happen but unfortunately it didn't! What a waste of a bogof opportunity, I don't think I'd get a credit back for returning half the deal, very disappointed. On the plus side the narrator did well hence the 2 stars not 1.
