Summary
Successful New York editor Jen Gibbs is at the top of her game with her new position at Vida House Publishing - until a mysterious manuscript from an old slush pile appears on her desk. Mesmorising
I didn't want this book to end. All the different stories and timelines were interwoven like beautiful silk. I also enjoyed the historical side of the book. It is the first book I have read by Lisa Wingate and I have just bought another title. It will be the first of many of that I am sure.

Magnificent!!
I haven’t enjoyed listening to a book as much as this for ages!! I absolutely stayed awake at night because I couldn’t stop. I love the combination of ‘found’ manuscript & stories of the characters. I had no inkling of the history of this area of the U.S. but I am inspired to research it further as a result of listening.

Curiously interesting
Very interesting book, I got hooked after a few chapters and then never wanted to stop listening to it
The only downside I found were the accents a bit heavy at times but I expect they are fairly authentic of the area

Get lost in the Appalachians!
A riveting tale with well researched detail providing a strong sense of place. The readers accents also accentuated this. I didn’t want it to end.

Magical… I was utterly bewitched by the unfolding story. Superb writing, a fascinating read .

wonderful
