A fascinating, existential book.
I really like Walter Kirn’s grounded, open and slightly existential way of writing. There is something a little Hemingway esque about his style.
This is a deeply personal albeit unmelodramatic story about grief and the effects it took on the author and his family, with themes of spirituality that despite their seemingly other worldly content, come across as wholly realistic and grounded.
The end feels sudden, as I could have happily listened for a couple more hours. But it’s hopeful and quite beautiful too.
