About this listen

In Coventry, Eric and Harry watch helplessly as they find themselves face to face with the latest arrival at Ground Zero. Tired and coming to terms with Eric’s devastating injuries, how can two men hope contain such an indestructible force, let alone escape the impenetrable energy shield that now envelops them and the city?

In the north of the country, Maria and her new friends race towards the Isle of Skye and - hopefully - answers. What is the secret behind Maria’s own connection to the Stone Men? What is the purpose of the mysterious Prism, and can it be destroyed? What has been happening at Project Orobouros for the last five years, and has it led to anything that can be deployed against this new incarnation? The stakes are about to rise dramatically, so much so that the fate of the country - and humanity itself - hangs in the balance.

Maria, Eric, and the rest of survivors of the fourth arrival will need to uncover the truth and band together in a desperate last stand against an unfathomable threat.

But how can mere humans hope to resist the unstoppable power of the Stone Men?

There is so much more in this book that makes it worthy of an immediate re listen.
Can't wait for the next book...... will it be the last one in the series??

Great follow on story

Luke Smitherd has really excelled himself! I was expecting the answers to all the questions posed in the previous books in the series. It was going nicely in that direction until it wasn’t. You get lots of back story & some explanations & think you know where it’s going when suddenly the story goes in a really shocking direction & you just know there has to be a book 4; can’t wait!

It’s great old-fashioned sci-fi story telling at it’s best with a modern horror twist. I started listening & went back & listened to book 3 again. I think this book is better with a good knowledge of what went before. There are some returning characters & some new ones, all very human & well drawn, plus of course, the return of some not-so-human protagonists.

It’s always tricky to write a review of a Luke Smitherd book without spoilers. His writing is so different & to give anything away really would spoil it. If you don’t know the series, go for it. Start with The Stone Man & you will be hooked. The story, narration and characterisation are excellent. This book has great pace, some of it will leave you breathless.

What a journey

The only books me and my hubby both enjoy. It's a race to finish it first. Highly recommend and looking forward to the next one!!

this third book was so so good. I thought the first two were great but I've been blown away by the story, increased depth to the series, and the time jumping to explain things. amazing.

AMAZING

Much better than the second book which was fine but I only really enjoyed the final third of that book. The Stone Giant is just as good and perhaps even better than the first book.

Solid as a...
