Summary

Kinda dead. Straight-up psycho. Totally obsessed with her.

I did a bad, bad thing.

Thanks to a blank in my memory, I'm not sure what that thing was, but it was horrible enough to get me locked up in the mental ward for seven years. Horrible enough that my little sister won't even speak to me.

But when I'm released back into a town determined to rub my unknown sins in my face, the past isn't the only thing that's haunting me. The four "imaginary" friends who made my childhood bearable barge into my life in a very real way.

They're crude, criminally inclined, and more than a little unstable after ages trapped in afterlife limbo. All they want is to protect me. Worship me. Avenge me.

So they'll bludgeon, maim, eviscerate - tear a strip of havoc right through this sleepy town.

Even rise from the dead.

Maybe I'm still not all that sane either, because part of me finds them strangely appealing. In ways very different from how I felt as a kid. And that's not the only strangeness stirring inside me...

I promised myself I'd stick to the straight and narrow from here on. But what if the only way to set things right is to get a little ghoulish?

Note: The Stalking Dead is the first in a darkly humorous new paranormal romance series by best-selling author Eva Chase. If you love sarcastic heroines with unexpected powers, obsessive supernatural men who'll do anything to defend their woman, and plenty of mystery and mayhem, dive right in!

This story will stalk you

Book 1 in a new series . Eva Chase blew this story out of the ballpark. Eva always writes very well detailed stories. The characters are strong . You can actually imagine that your taking part beside the events . It’s a reverse harem that actually has ghosts . There are certain parts that will make you laugh .
Heroine is Lily.
Lily finally gets released from a hospital but she can’t remember why. . One of her men remembers Lily talking to them but now they can’t communicate with Lily. Lily men get an idea that they need to occupy bodies to be with her and safe her . You will get hoicked on the story and the performance.

Both Joe Arden and Hollie Jackson blew this story out of the ballpark. Love their tone for each character and the excitement for each event

Ghostly goings on

Having already read all but the final book I was happy when I saw the audiobook. Lily is a strong women she doesn’t let the bullies get to her she just ignores them . Then when 4 of her bullies start to protect her she’s confused to say the least. I love the guys but I think it’s Jett who intrigues me most. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series.

Are we good or bad? read on to find out!

Different ,reverse harem

I was surprised at how quickly I got hooked into this story and it finished with me wanting to know more.

Looking forward to the rest of this series.

Is she mad or is there something more sinister happening in this town.

Weak FMC

My god. Do stories have to have these weak, dim witted FMCs just to exist?? My goodness she just a willing punching bag for the entire book. She doesn't even speak up for herself even a little. Just too busy imaging what she'd say then staring, Thats just weird and annoying when she does this like every chapter. Its also weird that she literally can't handle anything on her own, but she's supposed to be the strongest person the guys ever met???? She's not even really smart. Her reasons for being this way is so paper thin and frankly just a bit dumb. Instead of worrying about being crazy all the time, she should focus on not being such a push over. I swear its like she's this mindless doll of a person that needs someone to save her from her own life just to survive. Great male characters, but it defeats the purpose if I don't understand why they even like her so much. Not continuing with the series. I really should remember to read the Amazon reviews as well.

Quirky cast with an intriguing premise!

I really enjoyed this new series! It did start off a bit slower for me than most of Eva's series, but once I was hooked, I was *really* hooked. I found it a very interesting premise and can't wait to find out what happens next! I'm really liking the character arc for Lily, I can already see her growing and gaining confidence. She's quirky and I adore that about her! Now onto the guys, they certainly have their quirks (being ghosts for an extended period of time, it definitely makes sense). They are also a bit psycho. Probably also due to being undead as well as their previous life as bikers. Seeing the dynamics between sweet Lily and her rough-around-the-edges harem was really fun! I'm looking forward to watching their relationships develop as the story progresses.

I give the male narrator 5/5 and the female narrator 4/5. The female did grow on me some as the book went on, but the cadence of her voice threw me off at first.

Quick & Dirty Details:
- FMC: Lily - just starting college, recently released from a lengthy mental health hospitalization
- Contemporary setting with magic/paranormal elements
- Reverse Harem - 4 guys (ghouls/ghosts, former biker gang, a bit psycho)
- Steamy
- Multi POV
- Book 1 in series
- Possible Triggers

❤❤❤❤❤❤

Ok I absolutely love Eva Chase and have listened to every single audiobook of hers and I would have to say that this is by far one of my series by her so far. I really just love every character and found myself even laughing a couple of times. Joe and Hollie did an amazing job narrating this book!

Great book!

This is such an interesting concept and enjoyed that the storyline was unique. I had to work a little harder to make sure to keep the names of the bodies the MC were possessing correctly with the name of the ghost's name. The narrators did a great job and I always love Joe Arden's work and he did a great hob in this book as well. Can't wait to listen to book 2.

Funny, serious, mysterious

I loved the humor in this book and how the main characters were using it to diffuse fairly serious situations of bullying. It was interesting to see everyone's character growth and to get tid bits about the mystery that happened seven years ago, I can't wait to find out more!

The narration makes this great story out of this world.

I’m a huge Eva Chase fan, so I thought I knew what to expect. But once again she’s given us a fresh plot and interesting characters, and I’m hooked. I’d love Lilly and her boys no matter what, but this narration is out of this world.

the stalking dead

This is a different book, but in a good way. The characters are very unique and made me laugh out loud several times. I read and listened to this book, and I really enjoyed it. It's not your normal everyday story, and that is what I like about it. The narrators do a great job with the different characters.
I am curious to see what happens next.

I'm not sure if I want to finish the series

The fmc was just too much. I can't understand the level of bullying she allowed... like just took it for the sake of what? To avoid looking crazy? I guess...... it was just stupid. So here I am less than 2 hrs left of the audiobook debating if I want to go on to book 2.... if she don't get a back bone and loose the f***s she's holding onto.. I can't deal with her stupid frame of mind.

She's not crazy - right?

Loving the new series from Eva Chase. Lily was locked away in an asylum for years - and she has no idea what she did. She can't remember and apparently anyone who knows the story isn't talking. The doctors have finally released her and she has returned to her hometown to attempt to reconnect with her little sister. Her mother refuses to let her see sister and threatens to call the cops on her if she tries.

Meanwhile, at college....it seems everyone either knows about her incarceration or will know as soon as the gossipers get through. She is being harassed by everyone from an old childhood nemesis to one of her teachers. It seems that no one is going to let her live her life in peace. She just wants to prove that she isn't crazy and, hopefully, get to see her sister. Then, suddenly, one day all of her biggest detractors seem to have switched sides. Ansel, Vincent, Zach, and Mr. Grimes are suddenly acting like her best friends. Nothing suspicious there.

Nox, Kai, Ruin, and Jett have known Lily ever since they saved her life when she almost drowned in the marsh. She, of course, doesn't realize that her "imaginary" childhood friends are actually the ghosts of four guys whose lives of crime were ended suddenly when they were murdered and their bodies were dumped in the marsh. When Lily suddenly stopped coming to the marsh to escape her home life, the guys didn't know what happened to her. All they know is she is back now and they are determined to keep her safe. It seems a perfect plan to use the bodies of her biggest harassers to bring themselves back into her life. But can they convince her that they are her old playmates and are their violent methods of "keeping her safe" going to land her in more hot water?

Can't wait to see what happens next! I was given an advanced copy of this audiobook by the author. My review is voluntary.
