Summary

Dallas Willard, one of today's most brilliant Christian thinkers and the author of The Divine Conspiracy ( Christianity Today's 1999 Book of the Year), presents a way of living that enables ordinary men and women to enjoy the fruit of the Christian life.

He reveals how the key to self-transformation resides in the practice of the spiritual disciplines, and how their practice affirms human life to the fullest. The Spirit of the Disciplines is for everyone who strives to be a disciple of Jesus in thought and action as well as intention.

Fantastic, Dallas Willard brings great clarity

A brilliant exposition on a lost practice within mainstream Christianity. Dallas Willard has brought clarity to a sometimes mysterious topic and brings it to a practical level in day to day life.

Drivel

This is one of the few audiobooks I stopped listening to. I just couldn't handle it. Very little scriptural support for what seemed to be an endless flow religious phrases. I love Jesus, and I love learning about God, and how to better follow Him. However, this book had almost no support, or point. Or it just took to long to get there.

Challenging and direct

I loved how this was laid out. What is a disciple. How can I as a follower of Christ mature in my walk with Jesus. What are some steps to spiritual maturity. All of these questions Dallas Willard lays out in this book. If you want to know what the “cost of discipleship” means, then read or listen to this book.

Making Faith Real

This is an empowering interpretation on how to translate your faith into real and concrete practices; disciplines that we can all practice in order to become more Christ-like in our daily thoughts and actions.

Every one needs this book.

I think the discplines that Dallas teaches here are missing in the American church and that is why we are lacking in power. This is a great book.
