The trial of the century has arrived.

After twenty years of anguish, after twenty years of pain, defense attorney Joe Hennessy has the chance to confront the man who ordered the murder of his ten-year-old son.

In Charleston, South Carolina, Hennessy uncovers evidence that Senator Richard Longhouse has links to his son's unsolved murder.

Desperate to know the truth, Hennessy digs deep into the past, following the evidence trail into the criminal underworld. Clashing with corrupt cops, dishonest politicians, and ruthless felons, Hennessy uncovers information that has been buried for twenty years.

But to find justice, to finally expose the truth, Joe Hennessy must risk everything he loves...

This is the best book in this 4 book series and I was sad to reach the end. The plot is great as usual and the different cases tie in nicely with each other. It is good to finally have a conclusion to the background story but I was very slightly disappointed at the final outcome though it made perfect sense. The characters in the story are great, likeable, interesting and well narrated. I am lost now for what to listen to next. Whilst it is well concluded, i am sorry that this appears to be the last in the series. I have listened to other books by this author ( The Tex Hunter books ) but i just didnt like the main character and it was all too macho and unrealistic for me so i pray that other books will come along. Legal dramas are my favourite read and I have always enjoyed the books by John Grisham but his endings are so weak that i gave up on them but The Southern Lawyer books have been a real treasure find and I hope that other cases will come along soon.
