Summary

The long-awaited audio edition of Peter Kay’s best-selling autobiography, The Sound of Laughter, including two completely new and exclusive bonus chapters.

Grab a brew and some good-for-dipping biscuits and listen to Peter take a trip down memory lane, including his first-ever driving lesson, his Bolton childhood, the numerous jobs he held, right up until he found fame in the world of comedy.

The Sound of Laughter observes the absurdities and eccentricities of family life: elderly relatives, garlic bread, cheesecake, weddings, funerals and your mum’s HRT...hear all about it from Peter, read live and direct from his own front room.

Peter Kay is one of Bolton’s funniest comedians. His first autobiography The Sound of Laughter still holds the record for biggest selling British hardback autobiography of all time. He’s won numerous BAFTA’s, National Television Awards for his TV work including Car Share and Phoenix Nights. As well as three number chart singles - and he holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest selling stand-up comedian of all time.

the sound of laughter

loved listening to this. It was so funny and all the better being read by the author. There was little extra bits added by him in places as he recalled what was happening at the time.

If you love Peter Kay you will love this.

An amazing look at how the funny boy turned in to the funny man. It’s brilliant. Life events and how things were in the north at the time, along with a good dose of proper honest humour combined with Peter Kay’s personal experiences is what you get from this book.

Local lad done well.

Exceptional as I thought it would be. An honest betrayal of the struggle, commitment and self belief it takes to make you’re dreams come true. And to get to your full potential in life. Because no one else will do it for you kidda. Hilarious, Poignant and an absolute joy to listen to. Nice one Peter!

Brilliant

Anything Peter Kay does is 5 star material. I loved his reading of it as he'd regularly go off script with bonus stories. Loved it!

Mr Comedy

Loved this and all the extra material. I listened to this while on holiday sat round the pool laughing out loud, the guy on the next lounger asked what I was laughing at. He downloaded it as well.

Next book Bob Mortimer

The boy next door

How could a genius like Peter Kay come across as such a genuinely lovely person? I kept waiting to hear how different he was, but I’ve found out he’s a decent, caring, normal, human being. At the beginning of this book I thought I wanted to hear about the REAL Peter Kay and by the end I had. A treat, a real treat thank you Mr Kay you are a wonderful contribution to laughter and it’s great to know how normal you are.

A great book!

Peter Kay has had such a funny life and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it! This audible was better as listening to Peter himself reading it and doing the different voices made it all the more entertaining.

Would definitely recommend :)
